Chris Ray & NEOGEOFREAK Cease And Desist

In Febuary I won and paid for an auction for a neo geo aes game, from Neo Geo Freak (Chris Ray). Chris made a mistake (he claims) and sent the package to "Bobak!" (forum member). Then reportedly sent the package on to me, by UPS. The package never got to me. UPS was informed, and Neo Geo Freak (Chris Ray) was very rude and condesending in my opinion, he would belive nothing I had to say, and was very outspoken about his distrust of me. Dion, was much better, but still the situation was handled less than alright. Paypal, did refunded me after FOUR MONTHS. I still lost out $9.90, by sending the package of Bobak's purchases, that Chris sent me by mistake, back to Bobak. Bobak got his games from me with no problem.

Below is the latest email from Chris Ray at Neo Geo Freak, followed by my responce to them.

of contact, I did not get the item I bought from you.

Considering the verbal bashings people get for posting about NGF I don't think you'd want to post it here. For what it's worth though, I'm completing my first purchase from NGF and have had no problems at all. It could have been an accident. Whatever the case I hope everything works out.

Bobak! ordered 4 carton boxed games (an ebay auction) and I ordered Japanese Chess (an ebay auction) this was my first attempt to try and deal with NGF. I got Bobaks items right away, and shipped them right away. The cost was $9.90 and I asked Chris pay $15 to cover my cost and time. The games required repacking, and a trip to the post office. At this point he started calling names, and insisting that my $5.10 over the actual cost was an attempt to rip him off. Several days later (not sure how long) Bobak, says he got my chess, and had it sent by Mail boxes Etc, via UPS. UPS says it was delivered to an "MC WOMAN" I reported the package lost to UPS security. I did not get the package. I have no proof that either NGF or Bobak ever had a Japanese Chess game at any point, and I do not care. Fact is I got only bobaks games, and sent them back to him. Paypal has now refunded me, and now I am under personal attacks from NGF, who insists I am dishonest.

Its not my problem. NGF should do what any shipper in the same situation would do, make a UPS claim. The customer is not a fault. NGF is sore because for once, the customer didnt get fully screwed over in the end (just by $9.90).

Bobak, you should really pay me the $9.90, since NGF didnt.

The miss-shipments by Dion and Chris are a joke. Way before the NGF name existed (for them at least!), I bought an old-style stick from Chris. Months later, another box arrived from Chris. I could probably have kept it and he'd have never known the difference. It was another box with a couple sticks in it. I didn't want to be dishonest, and I was too busy to go to the Post Office, so I just sent him a check and told him what he did. I sold the sticks on Ebay when I had time (made a couple bucks!).

I don't know why they can't actually mail things to the right people. It's gotta be a combination of intelligence and actually giving a shit.

Since the topic here is pretty much flaming NGF I thought I would provide a positive point of view. I just got my Ganryu AES and am very happy with it. Dion and Chris were quick to answer any questions and send the game out. The item arrived in great condition and everything looks great. Also for what's worth I will say I think Ganryu is a great game and will be doing a review for it soon.

Smurph E-mail Dion or Chris for price related questions. The case is the new clam case like KOF2k's case. I'm not sure what you mean when you ask about the new or old style, I wasn't aware there was a new or old style insert. Everything looked really good though, the cart sticker was very glossy and the insert looked nice. As far as the game goes I really like it and will be writing a full review for it soon. Gokusama,judge me if you feel you must. I see nothing wrong with conversions. If you have an AES, but you would like a cheap copy of MS1 and you don't want to get the Arcade mod for your AES so the converter fits what do you do? Conversions are done so people can play unreleased AES titles.

No offense "Tom" (I doubt your real name) but Ganryu is a total piece of shit game and you're an idiot for paying "NGF" whatever ridiculous sum you paid them for the "AES" version of it (I paid $25 for my MVS copy, complete with artwork). I have the MVS version and its a total joke, its below Genesis quality with ridiculous backgrounds, cheap little sprites, crappy music, and horrible brain-dead gameplay. Which means that you're either an idiot (as previously stated) or a fake.

Amazing how we get these posts promoting the shitty NGF conversions, and the sad thing is that to convert the total crap game Ganryu, you need to sac a new home cart, most likely KOF99. Most people hated Quest 64 and DBZ GT Final,bout but there are those that do like it. As for you calling me an idiot for buying a converted cart, I don't think there is anything wrong with converting a cart. As for what I spent, that is my call and my money. If you can't accept that I like Ganryu more than I like KOF2k too bad. It's my choice, I made it and I'm happy with it.

Actually, I don't think there is anything wrong with converting carts, if they are NON-PROTECTED (i.e. older carts like Metal Slug MVS). To convert a MS1 MVS to home cart, all you need is a SS2 home cart, in any condition, and those are extremely plentiful (among the most plentiful of all home carts made). No protected AND non-protected cart required, unlike Ganryu which requires TWO sac carts, ONE protected (most commonly KOF99) and ONE not. That's bad enough, but when you add the fact that Ganryu is such a horrible POS game, it becomes a total travesty. THAT is why I am so upset, and add to that the past reputation of NGF for ripping people off (proven over and over here) and you see my point.
