Hi,

currently my cmvs uses the standard european scart cable. My intention is to exchange the cable with a DIN-8 video socket, for multipurpose use (Neo Geo CD).

If i follow this diagram, Pin 7 is free and i could use it for Audio R leading to Pin 6 on scart. Any obstacles on Pin 7 or will it interferes the Neo Geo CD when i use the same custom cable for both systems?

As long as you mod the systems to use the same pinout it will work fine. I also use pin 7 in all my CMVS units for Audio R.

Stock CDZ has the same pinout as the the AES on the Din8.
Stereo comes out of the RCA jacks only.

You can use pin 7 as Xian said to wire it for stereo, but you need to cut the trace ( sync line ) and wire it
to the R audio channel too.

Now i have to sort my thoughts right. What you suggest, is to wire Video Sync (jamma/MVS pinout P) to Pin 7 also?

current CMVS scart TV ouptput connector (don't remember excactly its a mess :D ):
1 Audio Out R
3 Audio Out L
4 Audio Ground (shouldn't matter if audio on 4 or video on 18)
7 Blue
11 Green
15 Red
19 Sync

new pinout scart TV output connector (my poposal):

Din Pin 7 to Scart Pin 2 Audio Out R
Din Pin 1 to Scart Pin 3 Audio Out L
Din Pin 2 to Scart Pin 18 Audio Ground (shouldn't matter if audio on 4 or video on 18)
Din Pin 8 to Scart Pin 7 Blue
Din Pin 5 to Scart Pin 11 Green
Din Pin 6 to Scart Pin 15 Red
Din Pin 3 to Scart Pin 19 Sync
Din Pin 4 to Scart Pin 8 +5V (only if sync stripper is used)

then for CDZ RGB mode on TV, composite Video line (former Din Pin 3) not used. don't know if this will work out....

I didn't said that.

Neo Geo's have Din pin #7 associated to composite sync ( not composite video ).
If you want to have Audio R coming out of pin7 on the Din, you have to cut that track and bridge Audio R to pin 7.
Otherwise you'll always have mono audio from that output.

You always need +5V if you want RGB.

OK.

I just saw with more attention your pinout scheme.

If you're planning to use the same cable for the 2 systems, you'd better have the exact same wiring for both.

Considering you have a CMVS, it is wiser to modify that one instead of the CDZ.

Talked to a electronic specialist at my company, he doesn't think it will work for long. If the sync signal comes from that Pin 7 in CDZ and sends a signal to audio R it may disturb the amplifier in TV.
So making 2 dedicated cables is safer for all electronics. Think will do AS he suggested.

Makes no sense. Just remember that to get stereo out from the AV socket on the CDZ, it has to be modded or else you are just getting mono. Plus I said to mod the AV socket not just connect the right channel to Pin 7 while composite sync is still going there.

Maybe i wasn't precise enough with my plans, i wanted to keep the CDZ as is without modding. I assumed that sync signal is not a big issue as the amp usually can eat current. A stereo mod for CDZ would be simple, just need to a wire coming out from scart cable with a cinch (not wired to the DIN 8 plug).

If you don't want to mod the CDZ then yes, the easiest way is to use some male RCA plugs that come out from the plug din 8 side and plug into the stereo jacks on the system.

Only if display does not support manual selection. Never had tv that didn't let you choose.

Not if your TV supports manual switching or you use an RGB monitor instead of a TV with SCART.

Sorry. I Just saw now.
My Laptop's acting weird and sometimes it either misplaces word or just deletes them.
I meant to say "You always need +5V if you want RGB for auto switching".

Whenever possible, I prefer to have +12v on that line as it forces 4:3 ratio by default :)
