CPS3 is a true service, CPS2 is doable by anyone really.

Are you going to do a guide on JNX for CPS2?
Would be a good addition.
I could, sometime in the near future. I made one for the CPS2 fan as well but didn't publish it.
Would be very interested in the guide for fan replacement James. Would solve the problem of all those noisy A boards. And I gotta agree with you, CPS2 battery swaps are a cinch. I've been able to do several without any failure. Never touched a soldering iron before either. The solder looked like silver pachinko balls with my first couple, but they all worked none-the-less.
The trick is to use a Weller solder sucker. This makes the job really easy. Starting with a clean contact after removing the old battery makes the swap much easier. Also, I buy the battery kits from Jammaboards.com which has nice instructions and the torx tool included for like $12. I've done a bunch of these and have never had a problem. As far as CPs3 that's a different story. tlh
You can buy batteries from all-battery.com for about 2.50, it's nice and necessary to have the T20 torx bit, but once you have one, you don't really need another.

You can use the code "tenergydeals" at checkout and get free shipping if you buy $25 worth of batteries.
great link! Was planning on grabbing some batteries for various other projects as well as some for MVS replacements. They have some nice prices there, especially with that free shipping code![]()
I use the tenergy ones as well. Only problem with them is that the tab is about a hair too wide so you have to slightly drill the hole on the PCB by a hair.
I don't know if newer batches are thinner but that was my experience. Only reason why I dont use them now is that they dont ship via USPS anymore just fedex or UPS and now shipping is like $40 to Hawaii where before I could buy 20 batteries and only be charged $5 for Priority shipping.
I can always just forward you some.
Awesome!!

It may be do-able by people here....but really some people are just scared of soldering anything. That or just to lazy and have money so they don't want to be bothered. Sounds like he was just trying to help those folks![]()
