I just saw that 8 is now out. I really loved VII. In fact, I just went on ebay and bought it again. It's a great game I think.

I'm a pretty solid DW/DQ fan.

Played through DWVII when it first came out and promptly sold it after completing it some 100+ hours later.

Loved every minute of it (and there were a lot of minutes to love), but it was around that time that I became bored with RPG's and most other forms of gaming in general, so I sold it off with most of my collection.

Just recently, I've really started getting back into RPG's (and gaming) again, so I picked up DQVIII and have been using the majority of my free time (which I have sadly little of) to play that.

DQVIII is old school RPG goodness with a fresh coat of paint that only current generation graphics consoles can offer.

Not that DWVII wasn't still a blast despite looking really dated graphic-wise, but DQVIII's cel-shading is pretty much perfection and gives the game a level of immersion that I haven't felt in quite some time.

I'm about 65+ hours into it at the moment, but because I've been enjoying it so damn much, I actually just snagged another copy of DWVII and will be sure to give that another run through once I finish up VIII.

(Or I may even just play through DQVIII again with different weapon combinations.)

Well, I felt lots of love for DQ/W VII when it first came out. I hadn't played a new DQ/W since the 4th one on NES, so it was a big deal for me when it came out. I liked the length of it and loved the job system. I thought it had some annoying and tough parts to it compared to VIII. VIII is pretty easy with the puzzles and finding your way around. I wish it had the job system of VII. Right now I'm 75 hours into it and trying to win the best casino armor. I have to admit though, I kind of lost interest about 30 hours in, but I want to play it to completion.

DW7 was awesome, I still dont own DQ8, but I'm gonna wait until I get done with classes this semester to buy it.

DW3 still ranks as one of my favorite games of all time.

What format are you guys playing Dragon Quest VII, or any of the earlier ones for that matter? I didn't think they were available in English, or do you all know Japanese?

V and VI were Japan only. Damn shame.

DQ5 and DQ6 were never translated. It would be nice if Enix would get around to translating them. They got about halfway done translating DQ5 for the SNES years back.

I think there are some fan-translations of DQ5/6 floating around on the internet somewhere though.

Yuji Horii has said that V is his favorite, and if VIII sells well (has it?) he wants to release the PS2 remake of V in America. I own the remake of V, and it's pretty amazing.

As far as VII? That's one of my favorite games of all time. I've played through it twice, which is about 240 hours. Haven't done everything in it though: that'd probably double those hours.

The SFC remake of III (which is where my sig comes from) is just amazing by the way. Play it if you ever get the chance.

anyone wants teh translated romz PM me.

I only played and finished DWVII and got attached to it that I wished it lasted even more.

I will defenitely go through the series. I'm just wating to see if there will be proper re-releases of the first 6 games in the US.

the US remake of DQVI on PS1 was almost completed too from what I heard, but it was canceled at the last minute.
