Not really. Didn't even Click on the other Monkees thread.

What is the origin of the phrase "Bought the Farm" in so far as meaning "to die."

It's an interesting idiom (is that the right word?)

Wiki says

bought the farm has its own interesting history. Its origins might come from the life insurance payout or a death benefit payment that would permit the soldier's family to pay off the mortgage on real property, such as a farm, or from "the farm" being a slang reference to a burial plot. In World War I the slang "become a landowner" meant to "inhabit a cemetery plot". [6] The "farm" is a euphemism for property, and "buying" it is a euphemism for the Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance benefit payment that should be sufficient to outright pay for the soldier's "farm."

Not so much but I just saw him on a rerun of boy meets world on Saturday. I wouldn't have known who he was but she did and did care too.

RIP Davy. Still remember that appearance he had on the Brady Bunch.
