Hoy

i'm getting error 01 with my naomi 1 setup

the dimm board is correctly and firmly in place
ini fact it does work properly if i hook up a gdrom

doing that i need extra juice and connector which i can't pull from capcom i/o so i'm using an atx for powering both gdrom and naomi as per classic gdrom setup over seganaomi.com

while i'm trying to netboot the system i was thinking capcom i/o was just fine but if i use just that to power everything on
i got error 01 which should be "board not inserted correctly" or malfunctioning+which is clearly not the case

could be a powering issue?
capcom i/o not providing enough juice?

i would like to avoid the atx which is a bloody mess and i also have to find a way to have 220v inside the cab :donotwant:

ah just in case
if i don't have the gdrom hooked up powering with atx i got error 26 wich should be pretty normal
still prooving dimm board is correctly read from the mobo

ATX PSU should be fine for testing purposes. a 400w PSU should be fine to handle a DIMM + GDROM. Make sure 5v+ levels are on 5 or just below. Naomi's will be pretty funny if they don't get a solid 5v

i remember there should be a pot or something to increase/decrease V on the +5 line

You must still have the extra juice while net booting. I would recommend a Sun PSU as I do to everybody. The SUN PSU will be a cleaner setup probably and most run about $25 to $40.

You tried to Net Boot with the ATX PSU hooked up and got a E 26?

Are you using a Zero key inside your Net Dimm?

Nope i m still waiting for the zero key
There s no key on the dimm unless i hook up the gd rom and the its corrispondent key
Then i obv get no errors

So yeah there s still something can go wrong when i m ready to net boot properly

As a side note i would like to use a wireless router and xp virtualized on the mac
Hope that work P_P

I was just setting up everything for its arrive and i noticed this
So the extra psu is a must go? There s no way i could get rid of it?

Naomi fan too noisy per se... adding the atx would produce a jumbo takeoff effect lol

Let alone i need to take the 220v inside the cab and a i/o button to drive it

Definitely use a Sun or ATX psu if you're trying to network boot.

You have to change jumpers on the DIMM board to net boot instead of use a GD-ROM drive. That might be causing your error, as it is probably expecting the GD-ROM drive if you did not change jumper settings.

yes i did know that
but the main problem was that i wouldn't have the atx in the first place *__*U

hooking up that solve the issue and i get a pletora of error code if don't have gdrom/key in place etc
but that is a different one and is pretty normal

no atx mean no dimm read so i understand juice is not enough for powering everything up properly

i may considering stick with the atx eventually... P__P

You technically can network boot without a key in, you just have to leave the boot script running. One thing at a time I guess. I use a Sun PSU for dimm setup, it's definitely the easiest way.

I will google for sun psu but i guess atx power supply will be just fine right?
After all is what i m using for age now unless netbooting need extra care i should be ok...

But i really can boot with no key in it?

I already have 3.03 512mb dimm as per andygeezer guide should be minimum
So whats next?
Move the jumpers, hook up the router and setting up the naomi on ethernet?

Uploader part? How does it work with no key?

That all sounds right.

You just need the triforcetools.py or naomi_boot.py (they are the same) script and python with pycrypto, same as the old mameworld instructions.

If you need the boot script files, PM me and I should be able to help.
