Sorry for the belated reply!

Thank you guys for picking up the release and the comments! We worked hard on it.

One thing that's not listed is that we added the missing signs to the subtitles and I fixed the names of the characters to be canonical to the games where I could (Like the name of Kim Kaphwan's son.)

I was able to also get the production art in there at the very last minute.



If it's old and standard def, like the Fatal Fury OVAs, we usually get Digibetas or even older 1 inch stuff sometimes (Pizza Cats comes to mind) and we'll get that transferred to prores. Sometimes the Japanese licensor may even send us m2v (MPEG2 for DVD) files. HD stuff, if it's on HDCam, it'll be also be transferred to Prores for us. A lot of the time we just get a hard drive with prores on it! I don't know what the source of Violence Jack is, unfortunately; didn't work on that!

Japan doesn't generally throw out the the film, though they've lost it in some cases. Like the original negative for Project Ako is nowhere to be found currently. Hoping to find it somewhere!!

I've been a fan of the first 3 Urotsukioji OVAs since the late '80's. At some point, I hope it gets an uncensored North American re-issue from a film master..

The combination of Yamato & Gundam theatrical staff made an erotic anime masterpiece.

I finally got around to taking DVD stills of the Discotek/Eastern Star release of Fatal Fury: The Movie. Unfortunately, I do not have a blu-ray drive so I couldn't upload pics of that version. However, being that Discotek's releases are anamorphic and sourced from film the DVD & Blu-ray are heads and tails above all past home releases of this movie. The blu-ray offers a slightly crisper picture and more vivid colors than it's DVD counterpart. Enjoy.

Whats up karyuudo, I’m with ya and would love to see a rerelease of the soundtracks to the Fatal Fury animated features, but I’m sure the demand would be much too low. Then again, there have been a slew of retro themed vinyl rereleases via companies such as Iam8bit and Limited Run Games so perhaps anything is possible. For now, the original japanese releases are all that are available for both of the Fatal Fury “Battle Fighters” TV specials and the Fatal Fury Motion Picture. The good news is that “Calling” from the 2nd tv special was included on the old release:

Cool to see this thread rise from the grave. Singles such as "Calling" from the Garou 2 anime OVA were also released as Mini CD/Maxi CD in Japan, and not as a Minidisc, which is pictured/different. Mini CDs are playable in standard CD players - but just smaller. When I owned Final Fight GUY as a teen for the Super Famicom, it came with a mini CD of a corny-AF arranged Final Fight music (the Sega CD destroys it). These were popular in Japan for a lot of single releases. More info here:

Hey BlackaneseNiNjA, Yup I own all those CDs, too. Even managed to get the CD Maxi Single of 夜明けのレジェンド (Yoake no Legend) when it was released back in the day.

It's a real shame they omitted those vocal songs by Megumi Yuki. I actually attempted to reach out to her directly the other day via her Instagram to see if she had any information as to why they didn't release them. I haven't heard back, and I'm not holding my breath either on it. I may even attempt to reach out to Komei Sugano who helped produce the music to see if he's got any insight to what happened exactly.

The only thing I can think of is that there were some issues with securing her vocal tracks for CD distribution.

Nice, I never had the Calling single... but it was included on the Sound Action CD so I was fine with that. This reminded me also of a couple of other things I owned which were the Cyber Cassette Collection Battle Fighters Garou Densetsu The Sound Special 1 & 2.

I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but I was able to make an cassette to MP3 recording of both tapes years back. These are audio drama stories involving the characters from the OVAs so don't expect much more than that.

Yeah man, I love my MD machines. I have some NetMDs that offered more time per disc by MP3ing the tracks onto them, if used w/ compatible units.

Obari coming back is all right but FF2 is really the only good one of the bunch. The motion picture should have had better production values than it ended up having and everyone looks way too feline in it. FF2 struck that perfect aesthetic balance between IP consistency and art direction freedom.

Worth noting that Terry Bogard was also one of the earliest non mecha related characters to appear on the cover of Newtype magazine back when it was a worthwhile publication. I don't even know if it's being published anymore, TBH

It's been awhile since I've posted, but I copped Discotek Media's Blu-ray upgrade to the Fatal Fury I & II OVAs that just dropped. I never thought film elements would be recovered for these TV specials, but here we are with a stunning new 1080p HD remastered release of these OVAs. HUGE improvements in video, audio, and extras were made for this Blu-ray over all previous releases; VHS, Discotek Media's DVD (wasn't that great tbh), and Viz's DVD (best up until now - not sure about the Japanese LD versions).
