I love 3d shooters,i play quake 3 team arena, unreal tornament and serious sam quiet a lot.It does of coarse simulate killing
but thats what games have done since the dawn of time, space invaders was where you shoot down the enemy and its progressed from there, you have to remember that in the game
the other guy is the enemy and you kill him, thats what virtually every video game is about,so i dont wanna hear nonsense like
quake caused my son to kill or doom caused that kid to shoot acuratly.
At the end of the day it dont matter wheather a game is realistic or not it is the person who is to blame if they go out and kill people.
I know empathy,i know the difference between right and wrong and most of all i know the difference between fiction and reality.

I think the more realistic a 3d shooter is the better cos if anyone has any malice they should be able to take there hate out in the video game instead of real life.

Heres the question:
if video games make certain people violent
should they be banned?

answer:
NO!! put it this way some people use knives to kill people and most use them to prepare food and eat, that dont mean you should ban knives does it,no object can be to blame for peoples actions and that includes guns, knives, horror films, screwdrivers ect.

I watched chucky 3 and was not affected, and yet over here 2 boys aged 10 watched it,copied a scene from it by tieing a 2 year old to a train track and watched him get cut in half, the film was banned and still is,its now 8 years later. You cant take it out on the fucking films or games or anything, the person is to blame every single time they just needed the weapon/trigger to fire.

Well stated.

I've blasted through Soldier of Fortune recently on the PC. Damn good game- and with the ultraviolence turned on, it can be quite therapeutic. Yet, I never get the urge to rip someone apart IRL with a shotgun or heavy machine gun. Neither does the normal person.

As for the 10 year olds tying the child to the train track- I'll never be able to figure out why they copied the movie scene. Their parents probably fucked up somewhere. The 10 year olds should have felt a sense of horror at the scene in the movie, rather than try to copy it.

Digressing momentarily, I think kids who have been physically hit probably turn out to be violent. Why? Spanking is violence. Parents who spank are obviously using it to try to achieve their goal (which is getting cooperation). These kids may end up believing that violence is the way to get what they want. Games, movies, and music aren't the problem.

yeah that was it,the two ten year olds killed a boy named james boulder you may have heard of the killing in the states, the boys have just been let out.

But the two kids who did it were beaten up by there drunken parents alot, and probably ended up beleaving violence is normal, this meant they had lost there empathy:the ability to put yourself in anothers shoes and ask yourself if you would want to be treated that way.
