Regarding the candy cabs, a friend of mine has some amazing results using vinyl dye, so much so that I wouldn't really consider painting one if it was yellowed.

Took my time and used a foam roller. I need to take better pic of my cab. i think the paint looks great. came out really smooth. doesnt look like paint to us. looks like a vinyl sheet
