So a co-worker of mine just described to me a movie he saw and wondered if I knew what it was. I don't, however it sounds awesome. I will re-iterate his key points:
-Takes place in the real-world, however the main protagonist visits a fantasy world that he described as "sort of like Beetlejuice or Alice in Wonderland, twisted imagery, etc"
-Main character has to save his girlfriend from evil wizard/warlord type in the fantasy world
-He befriends a young boy inside the fantasy world who becomes a sort of sidekick
-You find out in the course of the film that the little boy was to be the successor to this evil wizard
-During the movie, the main character is chased/menaced by an evil policeman/guard type who has a weird futuristic/fantasy gun weapon
-One specific scene features the main character being seduced by a woman who turns into a demon once they begin kissing in bed
-He guesses this was made sometime in the early 90s or late 80s from the quality of effects/film stock
