Roland's Sound Canvas series has a very glossy and hifi sound, at least it had it for its time. Still sounds decent in many aspects, can't really go wrong with it as a General MIDI device.

If you want something more vibrant and "pixely" and the games support it, get a Roland MT-32, it has that late 80s sound that gives many games an additional touch of originality.

The SC-55 has MT-32 emulation mode. But I find that Phalanx sounds better in SC55 then in emulation mode. If an MT-32 I’ll be sure to pick it up but I won’t go out of my way to find one….

I'm in Brussels for a conference. Smokey ya big goob, have you seen the Neo stuff they have in Olskool? Biggest collection in a shop I've seen outside Japan.
Wanna meet up faggit?
I haven't been to that store but seen their boot at conventions. Prices always seem a bit high.
Check the Pele-mele stores if you want. They always have a cool section of videogames and you can find a deal gem there.
Brussels used to have a lot of cool stores sadly a lot of them went bust during covid.

Thanks bro - I’ll drop you a pm later.

That shop felt more like a museum than they actually sold Neo games - but it was cool to see Metal Slugs 1 to 5 for sale in a shop in Europe in 2024.

tell him he's a bitch and to sell me anything I don't own
One way to avoid import tax kernow, buy in the continent and put it in luggage.

I’m here for a cloud conference on behalf of work. You work in cloud right? Come to the conference next year, we’ll catch up with Smokey, buy some neo games, go for beers… gooby times and all that.

Ah, it's Sam's shop (y)
Is that Breaker's legit?

I didn’t have time to inspect everything but I had a suspicion that Metal Slug 1 was a NCI reprint or similar as it looked too clean and shiny, I’m sure you could call them and ask.
