The great thing about 94 is that you can't get it on any other system..it's purely Neo Geo exclusive to this date.

94 is a great game, but I suggest starting with 95 simply because you can edit the teams and the characters have a larger selection of moves.

I recommend 98 or 2000 for a starter. (2000 will really hook you to the series). after getting 2000, try 2001.

I arranged it according to gameplay. so unless backgrounds, animations, music ....... etc. you can't get wrong with this order.

if you are really interested, I can show you some good combo stuff for 2000, 2001 and 2002. just let me know.

94 is a great place to start. Sure you can't edit the teams, but its good introduction to where one of the greatest fighting series ever. Its also a good budget title if your just getting into Neo and once you scrounge up some more cash, move on to 2000, 2001, 2002. Definitely try those games out in the arcade first before purchasing though.

Start with 94 for sure, that way you can appreciat just how much the series has evolved. Also the fact you can't edit the teams really makes you master the characters, something you can easily choose not to do on other versions if you find the right line-up down the line.

I'd start with '94 as well, although '95 wouldn't be a huge difference.

I started with '98 and was very frustrated because there were so many characters and so much to learn. Obviously now I'm quite happy with '98 but I didn't really get into the game until about a year after I bought it simply because there was so much in the game it was more than a bit daunting.

thx guys for the help. yeah I think ill start at 94, having set teams is kinda ify but i guess it probably brings a balance to the game and makes mastering the characters a must :D

I was fortunate to play all the KOFs in succession thanks to a certain friend who had a Neo Geo at the time and 94 to this day just has something about it, i really love it, its definately the most challenging of the whole series in my opinion. Although its pretty sweet when you get to 96 and face Omega Rugal (i think its 96 anyway, sorry) he is one tough momma!

Ya, KOF 94 is good to start because you can see all the KOFs in order. Maybe, KOF 94 may not have as good gameplay as KOF 2001 or KOF 2002, but, it is still a pretty good fighting game, nevertheless.
