I'm really new to this LaserDisc thing.

The one LD I am looking to purchase is Japanese in origin. Are there "regions" with LD Players like with DVD and video games?

Can I find a region-free LD player or a Japanese one for a reasonable price?

LDs don't have regions, its only NTSC or PAL.
