This is a project I completed just about two years ago. I wasn't going to show it off, being that this site is focused on candy cabs without much love for MAME hacks... But after showing a few pictures around the chat room, it seemed people liked to see them.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of how compact and off angle those buttons are...Why did you choose that layout for the cab?

Also, MAME isn't THAT bad, I just much prefer the experience of owning cabinets that match close enough to the original hardware that came with it (I say close enough cause I have a 4-slot cab yet I want to Univeralize its hardware to handle all boards).

I went with that strange button layout for two reasons. One, it allowed me to use some existing holes in the CP so I didn't have to patch/bondo more then then two holes in the front. Two, the 3" trackball is actually rather large underneath, and with the buttons in a row it wouldn't have fit all 8 (6 with stick, 2 with ball). It's not ideal for fighters, so I also used a diamond shaped gate for better golden age support (pacman, donkey kong, etc). Really thats about all this cab did well anyways was golden age, with the vert mounted monitor and trackball.
