Slapped on an arcade turntable decal, and labelled the Select/VEFX, Effector, and Start buttons. It's a cool shade of brown. I might put the 3rd style decal from the Hobocon on this eventually.

Cleared shakunetsu beach side bunny [h], bass 2 bass [a] and wonder bullfighter [a] (I had cleared wonder bullfighter before on KOC spacing but not on arcade spacing). Scratchy songs are so fun on this controller.

Anyone else on PSun? I know Igniz is and Opethian probably is.

EX Hard is frustrating and also hilarious.

Glad this wasn't a fluke when I cleared it years ago. I think clearing a song twice is less of a fluke than just once, at least.

Only my 19th 11 because I keep not playing 11s. I need to get RGB running on that PVM, that's just YPbPr.

Cleared 8dan again, this time on ASC spacing as opposed to KOC spacing.

I felt all nervous near the end of gigadelic (of course) then I had 18% bar at the end of the song anyway lol.

Also EXHC Mermaid Girl as my first 10 EXHC. Got a pretty great random for it too.

Who else here is playing on Programmed Sun? Igniz and Opethian are, that much I know.

How are you guys doing? I passed 4 new 11s (3 in one session earlier tonight!), and I also messed with my setup (which is a standing setup). The TV is now about a foot higher in the air, and the controller is about 5 inches higher, so I don't need a goofy "beatmania stance" and can play with my hands much flatter and more comfortably, and I can look straight ahead at my TV instead of keeping my neck bent down the whole time.

Also, Arcade UFO in Austin imported a IIDX cab which is running Tricoro now, it has a Konami CRT and the controls feel AMAZING. I got 8dan on it first try, I guess since 8dan is getting easier and easier for me I need to practice for 9dan, which for sure is a long way off, I almost always die at the end of the first song, and whenever I get past it the second song kills me pretty quickly.

Take a look at this video, this shows how to bullshit The Safari by abusing timing windows to simplify the rolls:

That said, a friend of mine in town says you should just skip 7dan and work on 8dan if you get stuck, since The Safari is just that tricky.

Yeah Digitank was easier with s-ran because I guess at the end I suck at patterns and die no matter which random I'm dealt, Red Zone was a horrible run up til the second half and was a total surprise.

Other shit I did the same night, HC Plan 8 [h], HC Golden Palms [a], EXHC "Yelpy Prim Song" (†渚の小悪魔ラヴリィ~レイディオ† (IIDX EDIT)) [h] (not necessarily hard but it's been a personal goal). Speaking of personal goals, can't EXHC Lion Suki or Round And Round (been real close on that one).

I also made this note to myself, here's where I stand regarding 11s I've cleared in CS but not in Tricoro (or at least not with AC spacing), non-Tricoro CS 11 clears I haven't cleared on AC spacing, and 11s I've cleared in Tricoro but not in any CS (for SSS purposes)
11s to re-clear (CS→Tricoro)
Murmur Twins
R5 (ASC)
Paranoia Hades
Click Again
Nageki no Ki
Second Heaven
DC Fish

11s to re-clear (CS only, on ASC)
Logic Board
Kecak

11s to re-clear (Tricoro→CS)
Linus
Vanessa
Digitank System (used SRAN)
Red Zone

I'm gonna drop some useful links btw, only useful to you if you're at the level where you can try 8s and up. These rank 8s and up by how difficult they are to normal clear or hard clear, and suggest mods (like a lot of charts benefit from Mirror played on 2P, or are easier with random, etc). The rating scale works within each difficulty (for example a "1" for an 8* song isn't as easy as a "1" for a 12* song). The source is a big and well-established Japanese site, not just pulled out of someone's ass, these spreadsheets are just adapted from the site for ease of reading.
Clickagain ratings for all songs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AsxL9Y1h4V7RdFZRRGtwX0tBODI2aThUSk9nbHM3b3c
Clickagain ratings for all songs currently in Tricoro: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AsxL9Y1h4V7RdHY2eTd6N1lpSlZpTGlaNzk4Rkg5Ymc

All sorts of good uses here, like to see which first songs in a rating you could most easily clear, which songs are similar/easier in difficulty to songs you've cleared (so you can try and clear those too), optimal ways to try clearing a song, etc.

I posted a ton of useful links on the "American IIDX" facebook group, if you need an invite to it (private group for a few reasons, though it's got a lot of members), send me a PM.

So I just picked this up for $50:

Not booting but I haven't done anything to it yet. I have hookups on PCBs in case I can't fix it anyway.

Played Pop n Music for the first time at the arcade a bit ago. What's the best way to play at home? Is it easiest to import a PS2 version and use SwapMagic or is there something better on PC or another console?

I've been working on CYO for a long time, and I finally had a revelation about how to better abuse floating hi speed* coming out of the speedup, and got it just a few clears after that. I'd gotten 78% a few times even without that revelation.

My 5key cab is nearly operational! I have a new motherboard which POSTs, but one of the ROMs is corrupt. I need to get with channelmaniac and burn a new copy, then all should be well! It only needs a few hours' worth of cleaning to be ready for a gamenight :)

*basically, while using floating hi speed, after a bpm change hold start + tap the turntable will readjust your hi speed to your green number. Some songs have a generous window of opportunity (some are better suited for toggling SUD+ without floating hi speed) and some don't really give you a good window, needing you to figure out where to throw in the hi speed abuse to lose the least life. If you were ever into Guitar Hero enough to follow the high level play sites, it's sort of similar to star power "squeeze".

Hey man!

Glad to see you're still kicking around. The only thing you'll need to complete the cabinet experience is a window to jump out of when you mess up!

Question: Has anybody ever fashioned an accessory to attach 2 USKOCs together? They have that unique shape where it seems like somebody could fashion a simple dovetail type thing that you could slide them both into. I play with the controller in my lap, so without something like a lap desk, using 2 controllers is impossible (not that I'm good enough to anyway).

Also, did Konami make good on their threat not to release any more IIDX games on PS2 after Empress? Lastly, does a score database still exist like the olden VJ Army days?

Happy New Year, btw!

solidstatesquad might still have a score tracker? when I had 2 konami controllers I played on a music stand the controllers don't move all that much.

Hmm, I'd be glad to help brainstorm your controller holder. You could try some velcro on a flat board (maybe add some padding underneath for your legs). If the velcro moves too much, you could try industrial strength velcro, I've used it in my first supergun and it held a computer power supply to some plastic, no amount of shaking budged it. Nifty stuff! Another idea: perhaps attach to a board some L brackets for the flat edge, and some sort of straight bracket with a slot that the cord passes out from on the round edge? Maybe some more straight brackets along the long sides for stability.

Konami hasn't put out a consumer IIDX since 16. We're still playing new songs at home, it's great, you can rival people, scores save automatically, a lot of goodies. Send me a PM, I'd love to get you up to speed.

For CS IIDX, you can use http://iidx.solidstatesquad.com , click my "S3" sig pic for my profile on it. There's an automatic-ish way to sync your scores, it takes some doing but it's way faster than going by hand, this writeup is pretty good: http://forum.solidstatesquad.com/lofiversion/index.php/t6917.html Short of it is: 1) Boot uLaunchELF 2) Insert USB drive 3) Copy saves to USB 4) Use PS2SaveBuilder on PC to convert saves 5) Upload

I think ZIV has a score tracker but IDK if people use it, there's definitely people still using S3.
