The animation and character design looks fun in the trailer but I'd hate to play a danmaku shmup on a black & white, non backlit screen.

I've actually always found this thing to be kind of interesting even if extremely gimmicky, dumb, and the potential plot of a Portlandia episode. No way in hell I'd ever pay the price for one, but I'd like to play around with one at some point.

yeah. that's kinda where I landed as well. As a community experience it's probably very fun, but in isolation it's an overpriced gimmick.
I just couldn't get past the lack of color either. limited colors like GBC or NGPC would have been fine, but grey scale.....

I play around with a friends from time to time. that's enough for me.
