Hello everyone,

I posted a similar message on neogeousa's forum;
let's see if some here can help me or give
some advice on this terrible situation.

My situation is this:

About a month and 1/2 ago I bought my very first
AES system and Samurai Spirits 2, both japanese,
from bivari on ebay. Both worked just
perfect. A couple of weeks ago I bought
World Heroes and World Heroes 2 Jet, both
japanese, from different sellers, also on ebay.
When I first played WH, every seemed to be fine,
but when I popped in WH2J, I saw something
was definitely wrong. I could hear the
intro scene, but I didn't see anything until the
end. When I pressed start everything went black;
I knew I was in the title screen because I could
hear I was going through the options when I
moved the joystick, but all was BLACK. I pressed
A button a couple of times until I got to
the character select screen. There I could see
the little squares where you choose a character,
and the background, but I could not see the
the player I chose or the mode select options;
all I could see were BLACK SILHOUETTES. It is
like someone got some scissors and cut the
figures out of the background. Also not showing
were the vs and winner screens. Strangely, in
the actual playing/fighting everyting was well,
nothing missing there.
After I saw all this, I decided to give WH a
second look. In that game I noticed, but
am not sure, that after I pressed start, intro
pictures were missing. I could hear japanese
voices, and I could see japanese writing, but
no pictures. Also, in the part where the game
shows you basic moves, I could hear sound,
and I could see the image of the joystick and
buttons being moved on the screen, but
no character showing me the moves being
performed. Gameplay was okay though.

What is strange is that SS2 is working perfectly
fine. That gives me some hope that maybe, by
some srtange coincidence, I got two defective
games, and my system is fine. I hope so, but I
don't know. Since those are the only games
I have, I don't want to make a decision yet.
I have just bought another game and am waiting
for it to test it; let's see what happens.

What do you all think??

Could both games be defective? Or is the
system the one?
I thought maybe the system had some dirty or
damaged connectors, but they are clean and seem
to be in right order. So I don't know.
I really hope it's the games, and if it's the
system, I hope it is nothing serious/expensive.

Has someting like this happened to any of you?

Please help!! I really need some reasurance
that my system is fine, or some advice on what
it could be and how to procceed.

!!!!I WANT TO ENJOY MY NEO TO THE FULLEST!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like a dirty cart or loose slots. I would clean any carts giving you problems such as that... I had a very loose slotted system at one time that did the same thing to me. You can start by cleaning the carts (I use good old cleaning fluid for my Genesis games) and a Q tip. If that doesn't help, look into getting your slots tightened (many on this very site do it for cheap).

And if you *really* want to enjoy your neo to the fullest, get the S-video and stereo mods. ;)

Thanks for replying Spike!!

Actually, I already cleaned the system slot and
the cartridge connectors.
So the problem may be that the slots are loosed.
How do I go on tighting them?
Is it possible for an amateur to do it? I mean,
is it easy or difficult?
Maybe someone could direct me to a website
where instuctions on how to do it are
available.
The other alternative is... who do you
recommend?
I'm a newbie to NEO GEO scene, so I have no
idea and I don't know who the people with
experience are.

I appreciate your help...maybe you or anyone
alse can give me more adivice.

Peace,

AVULON
