How was the trip?

flight was terrible (14+ hours and I can't sleep on a plane)

trip itself was great

kind of surreal experiencing such a different culture at first but I got used to it quickly enough

girlfriend speaks Japanese (she lived there for a few years and taught English) but it gets a bit lonely when you can only wait to hope she translates a conversation for you

public transportation was unreal... especially coming from Boston where it's a mess

food was my favorite part for sure

okonomiyaki? hell yes to that glorious mess

the temples where pretty but after a while they all look the same

met SouthtownKid and he looks EXACTLY like his avatar

got a little homesick towards the end (2 week trip) and that really helped me appreciate what I have at home (great home, family, friends, etc...)

overall a great experience

just don't think I can handle a flight that long again haha
