I remember when I first bought Sengoku AES in 1991/1992, this game only has limited continues (around 5).

I sold it two years later and now I just acquired another copy in hand.

It has unlimited continues......???

Is it true that Sengoku has limited or unlimited continues?

I just got my AES system and Sengoku last week. On my game, after you press start, you get the option Easy Normal Hard MVS. With the first three, when you lose you get 3 continues.

Does your system have a debug mod? Sounds to me like its set on MVS..

When you turn the machine on, and let it run, it gives a story sequence..if its just scrolling text on static images, its on AES..if it scrolls along a skyline then shows the Ninja castle zoom and the giant evil face, its on MVS..

Hope this info helps..

Mine doesn't have option to select from Easy, Normal, Hard or MVS.......

I just know that it's different from my previous copy. The reason why I sold my old copy is that I hate to use memory card in order to continue...

My system doesn't have debug mod.......

Well, I love to play Sengoku with unlimited continues but just feel "lucky" ;)

I wish my Shock Troopers 2nd can have unlimited continue

When I first bought Sengoku AES (US version) in 1992 and I played this using my old jap neo geo aes (gold edition), obviously in aes mode, the intro that started was the mvs version (!), I'm 100% sure.
In the Sengoku that I own now (jap version, no carton box), using my new jap neo geo aes (with Razoola Unibios 3.0) in fact the intro in aes mode starts in the aes version (!) but how is this possible? maybe in 1992 it was because of the Sengoku US version?...it remains a mistery to me, I've never understood it.

Now the only way to see the mvs intro is to play Sengoku in mvs mode.
Is there a way to see the mvs intro in aes mode like in 1992?

Thx 🎴

There are 2 rom sets. Differences include the intro, and the difficulty settings & number of credits in AES mode :)
Magician Lord has a different revision as well. One revision starts you at the beginning of the stage when you die, and one starts you where you died.

The magician lord that has checkpoints is massively superior. Game is still challenging even if you are not going for a one credit clear.

The other literally spawns you sometimes literally in puts.
