Hey Everybody,
I thought I saw a thread a week or two ago about someone asking about an alternative. Well I got around to ask my buddy about his and he uses one of these http://www.amazon.com/HP-EXTERNAL-BURNER-ADAPTER-SDD018-N1000/dp/B002XK1JGO
Doesn't require any splicing or hacking up and it works. Kind of bugged me that the 5V line is 1.2Amps and not the 2Amps the OEM unit can supply but he used it for a while and didn't have any issues.
