The replica of the HMS Bounty just sank off the coast of North Carolina.

It was built as a full-scale replica for the 1960's movie "Mutiny on the Bounty" with Marlon Brando.

Apparently 2 people initially went missing, the Captain and Claudene Christian, who is related to Fletcher Christian (the lead mutineer of the original HMS Bounty).

The story of the mutiny on the original HMS Bounty is pretty interesting if you guys haven't heard it. In the late 1700's, Britain wanted to get a cheap food source for its slaves in the Caribbean, so they sent off the Bounty to collect some breadfruit plants in Tahiti. Bad weather caused the Bounty to arrive in Tahiti when the plants weren't in season (or something like that), so the crew had to wait for a few months on the island while the supplies were getting ready. The problem was, the crew were treated like kings under Tahitian hospitality with naked women running around everywhere. With a life like that, many on the crew weren't in a good mood when it came time to leave, thus leading to the events of the mutiny.

Interestingly, the mutiny crew finally settled on Pitcairn Island, and their descendants still live there to this day.

There was a good movie on the subject, with Mel Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, even Liam Neeson and Daniel Day Lewis.

I wiki-walked to some articles on the original Bounty just today. Really odd coincidence.
