So I had this idea to move my candycab upstairs by myself...

So I decided to put my candycab upstairs and figured that I could do it alone.

Of course it wasn't that hard at first (actually it was, but lets just pretend that it wasnt lol)...I could pull it up one stair, rest if needed and then go up again.

I pulled it up by the handles in the back of the cab, but its a sitdown cab so its short, so it was very akward (me being very tall ). I had to put my legs up the stairs as far as I could, otherwise I would squish them and get myself trapped.

All was going good, until I got a few stairs to the top.

The BIG MISTAKE I made was not clearing the upstairs to make room for it at the top LOL. A old book shelf was in the way, plus the railing on the stairs. So I sat there a while trying to figure out what to do.

So I was holding onto the cab with one hand, and trying to move the bookcase with the other, and of course I ended up making everything fall off of it in the process.
I still couldn't move the damn shelf even with the stuff off of it.

By the time I unburried myself my grip was starting to fail in the hand that was holding it up. So I ended up just scraping the railing and pulling the cab up on top of myself to get it all the way up, and then scooted myself out lol

"I've fallen and I can't get up"

These things were bigger than I thought and the upstairs area was smaller than I thought:hammer::hammer::hammer:

Even if the upstairs was clear, its still a little too difficult for me to do alone, too much lower back rounding to pull it up being like 4 stairs above the cab.

Oh yeah, I have a cat to, and he was crawling all over me and around the cab, so I had to watch him so he didnt end up getting squished to lol

did you take the monitor out at least?

Nah.

At first I wasn't even going to take the 6slot board out :D

Funny thing was when I opened it, there was a CPS2 game inside as well as the 6slot . I forgot I was testing it to see if it still worked. :spock:

Usually no matter what cabinet it is, going upstairs is always tougher than going downstairs. I remember hauling 10 games up 3 flights of stairs. Even with 3 people, that was a chore and a half.

First time I ever saw what the bottom of one of these Candy cabs looks like..:buttrock:

I was over at my new apt today trying to figurge out how the heck am I going to get the four slot up the stairs..The monitors shot so I'm going to pull it out before the move anyway.
Strapped the Big Red 2 slot onto an apliance cart today for it's pick up tomorrow,..Went to lift it and HOLY SHIT.My right shoulder said No FN Way..:oh_no:

My wife asked,So how are you going to move the "Lil White Machine" ..I told her I'd probably carry it up the stairs with someone else like I did when I brought it here but I went to move it the other day and forgot how heavy it is..

Everytime I think about moving the Cabs my balls fall out.:loco:

I'm lucky...all I have to contend with is a small lift (less then 4") at the front door and then the games get rolled in a fairly straight path to the gameroom. If I had to deal with stairs I'd go nuts.

I moved my Super Neo 29 by myself up 3 flights of stairs. I took out the monitor and carried it up by itself, then strapped the cabinet to a hand truck and wheeled it up the steps.

Another Member came to pick up the 2 Slot today..

I was the cart man..going down a flight of 8 concrete stairs..
Things so heavy..I was nervouse bring it down as the apliance carts rear track wheel would flow down the stairs..
Me being 180pds the 2 slot was pulling me.

Crazily, the day I brought it in here I used the most shittiest cart and it seemed easier.

Gah! What made you get rid of the two slot, man? You had such a sweet setup going on with the two and four slots together.

Man, those moving pics remind me of all my cab moves. Nothing like sliding it down the back of the van making sure nothing gets damaged on the sides.

Heh. Reminds me of the time I helped the game tech move a Mercs cabinet a few years back. We moved the game to his truch, lowered it on its back with the carpet protecting it and the cord tucked out of the way. We then slid the cabinet until without warning there was a loud shatter of glass as we proceeded to push the top of the game through his back window of his truck. D-oh!

Thanks DeadPixels; :)

Lack of room in the new apt..I mean there is enough room but I want less in the apt...
To have it not crazy I had to give up one big red.
.I want a neater/less stuff set up.

Having two Reds next to each other here was fine,At the new apt it's too much..The room layout is different..Here the Living room is Massive, there the Kitchen is massive..
Selling off most of my gaming collection in which has become to ridiculous proportion :annoyed:(witness by a forum member today)..Thinking,man I've aquired to much to where it's a pain to move and own..Kinda hits me in the head different now,I must be getting older as I don't have any desire to have a lot of games and systems anymore.
Though I'm keeping the good stuff, new system games AES,TG 16 Famicom etc...Stuff that I will play..
I kept a box of playstation games =rare, sealed and stuff that I'll play,,the rest are being Sold...A waste/no need for it..

I want a nice and neat set up with a new LCD tv...buying some new furnature,Bunkbeds for the kids etc.

I found a nice corner in the place for the four slot..I actually have someone coming here tomorrow to see if he can fix the monitor..He's a friend of the family and from what I told him he said he can fix it..Right now I just want it fixed so the cost really doesn't matter.
So far I have to find a spot for the Pinball machine,Slot Machines,Pachinko,Touchmaster 7000,Americana Tabletop,Ms Pac Man Cocktail Table and Candy Cab..
I'm getting spots for everything in my head but I don't want clutter..I also want the place set up like I had it..Everything set up for when people come over they can play...Sit on stools and have fun..

I have basement space but it's too soon to see how much I can actually do down there...I gotta test the waters with the landlord..He was ok with my cabs unlike the landlord here but the basement is shared, and not my domain..I don't want to push it..

If I am allowed to Arcade it then more options are open...Whew Pins, maybe another 2 slot..:loco:

2nd set of stairs to go up..Ouch..

I moved my Astro myself, it wasn't too bad, but using the casters on pavement at 3 in the morning when moving into an apartment sounded like a tank approaching the building. I also got stuck getting in and out of the elevator. Lifting it in the jeep wasn't too bad, but i had to push it in on it's back, then twist it so the panel would fit. Just didn't want to scratch the whole side of it getting it in. But it fit perfectly.

When I picked up my red cabinet... such a heavy fucker. That i had to twist to get in my front door, and I was barely able to hold it before that happened. We didn't have a cart, we had to actually carry it across the yard.

Gold cabinets aren't a problem, if it wasn't awkward weight, I could lift one on my own, and two people is especially nothing. I was fine on my side but my friend was dying on his half.

I also ran in the house with my pinball playing field because I didn't feel like waiting for a friend to help me. Not bad either besides keeping the front door open.

hehe I should have used a dolly/cart or something lol.

Having some wheels help you go up the stairs must be allot easier than literally picking the thing up and dragging it up every step like I did x_x

How much do those standup cabs weigh btw? like 250?

The gold cabinet was probably that. We got it a state over and had to bring it down three flights of tight turning stairs. That was awful, but the rest was fine.

Most of the weight in a candy is the monitor anyway. Friend of mine had to move three Astros and a Blast up to the third floor, so I don't envy him taking it all apart after having to do so just to get them out of his basement.

I'm not sure how much heavier the red cabinet is compared to the gold, but it's pretty friggin heavy.
