I have this strange feeling Kim in 2002 wasn't drawn for it but SvC and will be in there. He sure as hell would fit in.

No Kim = Me not like game as much at all

I donno. It seems pretty obvious to me that kyo and ryo and both recyled kof sprites. They both really aren't that tall, and aren't really animated that well...

I guess we won't know for sure until we get to play the game, but it looks that way from the video...

Earthquake SamSho1 vs SamSho2 comparison. I'm not really the best person to form an opinion as I've never played either of these games, but without looking at how the two animate and purely going by these grabs, I would say SamSho2 Earthquake looks a little meaner and better proportioned.

I do agree that SvC Earthquake seems rather huge though. I think he's pretty cool and could well be a really fun character, but I'll reserve judgement until I see how he plays. I can understand the worries that he'll be major shoto bait though... so big a target to hit.
The second incarnation is a display of his character trying really hard to look mean whereas his 1st incarnation,the glassy eyed look is more intimidating and realistic on the video screen as it would be in real life.
The 1st incarnation is best hands down.

Well, acording to spong.com, and I quote The SNK characters have mostly been ported over from King of Fighters '96, whilst Capcom's Street Fighter 2 characters have been redrawn to match that style. <a href="http://spong.com/index.asp?art=4943" target="_blank">http://spong.com/index.asp?art=4943</a>

Lets cross our fingers and hope to Playmore that is not true at all.

All that work making BGs, an engine, music, and redrawing and animating characters only to skimp out on two will really ruin the polish of this game.

Both Kyo & Ryo look ripped straight out of KOf2k2 without any new animations. I'm willing to bet the rest of the KOF crew will be ripped straight from KOF2k2 also. Actually I'd bet the only redrawn sprites in this game are for characters so old (or are unavailable), such that including them unchanged would look ridiculous.

Earthquake looks redrawn to me - just based on his SS2 incarnation.

So far, the only thing I'm really impressed with in this game is the backgrounds. They look totally sweet.

Kyo can't be ripped out of 2K2. He has the new white jacket and the cross across his shirt. The clone Kusanagi looks like he got a tan in Hawaii. Ya gotta admit though, it's a lot of sprites they have to redraw if they pull it off.

Earthquake's sprite is definitely redrawn. There are a lot of similarities with SamSho2 but take a look at the chain for this weapon in both pics. The chain in SvCC is thinner and more detailed whereas the chain in SamSho2 is fatter and less intricate. Kyo and Ryo are taken straight out of KOF, no doubt about it. I'm glad the SF guys will be in the KOF style but Earthquake and Tabasa don't blend in well at all. As far as bosses go, gudging from the intro the bosses will be Gouki and Mr Karate.

I don't see it, Kyo's sprite looks completely new and I own KOF '98.

Maybe a side by side comparison is in order?
<img src="http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.wilks/kyo1.jpg" alt=" - " />

Kyo's KOF '99 sprite. His '98 sprite does not have this frame. Neither does his '00 sprite, strangely. I can't speak for '01 or '02 as I don't have those two.

<img src="http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.wilks/kyo2.jpg" alt=" - " />

This frame seems to be from Kyo's forward double sweep. I can't find this frame in any KOF (94-00).

<img src="http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.wilks/kyo3.jpg" alt=" - " />

Another example of the '99 sprite. Therefore, without any knowledge of his '01 and '02 sprites, it looks like his SvC sprite is taken from '99 with extra frames of animation added.

Yep, you're exactly right.

I finally watched all the videos from home last night. In the videos, Kyo and Ryo are straight out of the KOF series.

That's not good in my book, especially considering the other characters are fresh and new and we get the same old Kyo and Ryo we've been playing in the KOF games for years.

Let's hope when the game is finished that won't be the case for those two, or the others who appeared in KOF games.

If it remains that way, I will be pretty disappointed.

Oh, and the game does not have fluid, Garou quality animation either.

I'm worried. oh_no

Well, looking at the character size, capcom`s ryu and ken appear bigger than SNK`s. I don`t understand why they made the sprites so big if they were too lazy to enlarge snk`s sprites.
Certainly they should have chosen one way or the other.

So I saw it in person, and no the animation is not MOTW quality. The intro, yes, the game, no. Its not bad, but it simply doesn't have THAT many frames. The SNK sprites looked recycled, the Ryu and Ken sprites looked like they were mad from scratch, ryus pants had the same sort of banding that you seen in KoF games, and his fireball looked a lot different than previous capcom efforts.

thats my two cents. er, quarters, whatever

Ryu is 178 cm.
Ken is 176 cm.
Ryo is 179 cm.
Kyo is 181 cm.

So yeah, if the KoF sprites look smaller then Playmore are making quite a mistake.

Still, if the game DOES have KoF quality sprites we'll probably see around 40 characters, even if 15 of the SNK characters are reused. That's not a bad thing either.

if Playmore screws us on this game I am never buying one of their games again (that is what I say until SS5 comes out loco ) but really how f***ing lazy do you have to be to rip these tired nearly 10 year olds sporites? If they wanted to be lazy why dont they just get Capcoms Kyo and Ryo sprites (my fave version of ryo) ot just work off of a cropped AOF3 sprite and improbe it? It really pisses me off if they are goign to rip from KOF it is a slap to all those who have stuck by the company on the premise of the quality of there products because we are getting a MUGEN product then, just ripped KOF sprites fighting beautifully made Capcom ones :rolleyes: . I sincerely hope that those sprites will either just in there for the BETA version or will be heavily updated. Look at Ryo and Kens arm muscles, Ryo looks like a puny little girl it is really quite out of place. Just my two cents.

-Peace-
