Summer Plans

Due to the nature of my job I have some free time in the summer. This year I'm making a plan so I don't waste eight weeks of my life.

Feel free to make suggestions or add your own summer resolutions.

1 - improve myself - body and mind
I'm going to swim twice a week and bike three times a week. Part of my mind improvement strategy includes playing Nintendo Brain Age.

2 -make something with my own bare hands, preferably out of wood.

3 - play an RPG from start to finish. Possibly Chrono Trigger.

4 - portage between two lakes. My friend has a canoe, so this shouldn't be a problem.

5 - camp in a provincial park, not in a commercial campsite, but in the actual bush.

6 - Clean and organize my house. This includes throwing out crap from my childhood that I've never thrown out because I may need it one day.

How about you?

Cutting the gluttony from my life.

So far we've managed to shave some $900/month out of our bills by simply shedding things we do not use/need. I've started to lose weight by cutting sugar from my diet almost completely and eating less. I've also started to fix much of the shit that need to be fixed around the house...

Little things but stuff that has bothered me for some time....

I hadn't run regularly since 2008. I felt like shit, had really low energy, was getting pudgy... Said fuck this at the end of April and have been running every morning, Monday through Friday, since. Ten weeks now and I'm really in the groove of it again.

I also haven't read a lot since I graduated in 2008. Decided that had to change this year and I've finished eight novels so far and on a ninth and tenth right now. Feel awesome about that as well. I've finally gotten through stories I've meant to read for years.

Been working on my own stories. I'm trying to average 50,000 words a month this summer. It should be easy. On my creative days I can easily hammer out 10,000-18,000 words without breaking a sweat. Problem is, I'll do 15,000 words on Tuesday, and then not write another thing until the following Wednesday. I have got to get myself more motivated and more focused on a set writing schedule.

More or less I'm working on improving myself instead of being consumed by work/social life/bullshit. It's been good so far, but a long way to go for me as well.

My resolution is always not to make resolutions, because like diets, they don't work. That doesn't mean I don't think I should exercise more though. :emb:

I just want to finish a few patents I'm working on. If anyone knows someone who'll do patent drawings for a reasonable price, let me know.

Mwuah-hah-hah... I have some IDC-9s for you to worry about

Can't really argue with that #1.

Get my home wireless network up and running for PSP2 in September.

Get back into an exercise routine, I've been slacking.

Become a better cook, saving loot by eating in more often.

I didn't know PSP2 was coming out.

And I eat out way too much and have gotten man boobs because of it.

I wanna lose weight too. All that really needs to be done is resist the temptation of certain foods that are tasty but particularly fattening.

I want to make more of my day too, like getting up earlier. It goes by too fast when I get up late. :emb:

- Turn my muscles into fat

- Play games every moment I'm not sleeping

- Don't sleep

- Read nothing at all... not even thread titles

- Never turn my TV off of MTV

- Continue to be jobless

- Avoid direct sunlight to develop a pale complexion and a Vitamin D deficiency

- Protest anti-gay sentiments at a gay military persons funeral

- Kill ten of the cutest animal babies in the world in the most inhumane way for my consumption only to spit them out after one bite having deemed them "unsuitable" for my palette

I want to turn my fat into gravy, so I'll always have a supply at hand.

Ever try PiRoom, or writeroom (or darkroom, depending on which os you're using)? I love using it as a writing environment; it makes me feel like Doogie Howser MD.

Also, this thread should have been called "Summer Plans".

EDIT: and now it is.

I didn't know PSP2 was coming out.

September 15th, mang, Phantasy Star Portable 2 arrives in NA.

Sure it's almost a year since the JP release (Dec 09'), but atleast it's coming.
