YesSorry to necro this but just to confirm I read this right. If I don't want to cut the 470 resistor then I can just use a coincell holder and a ml2032?

No and I wish people would stop recommending that.Sorry to necro this but just to confirm I read this right. If I don't want to cut the 470 resistor then I can just use a coincell holder and a ml2032?
and what if i don't want that???Or you could just use a non-chargeable CR2032 and never have to think about it again.
You want to charge the battery all the time? The memory will get corrupted by a badly seated or dirty game before too long, so it's not like you're keeping your data forever anyway. Changing the non-rechargeable battery every 5 years or so is a non-issue. I've got a CR2032 from about 2016 in my MV1C that's still going.and what if i don't want that???
i maybe found some suitable replacements..
a VL2330 3V Battery 50mAh (it's a bit low) and the others are in that earlier post but these are not made for this charging circuit so a ML2430 is the final option if i want to use a rechargeable battery in my cab.![]()
ah nice, but there is a difference, i'm ok with a rechargeable battery and i don't want to do much work on this board because this one works, you know what i mean.. this is my 3rd or 4th board alreadyYou want to charge the battery all the time? Do you mean a non-coin cell drop in replacement? That's easy.ah nice, but there is a difference, i'm ok with a rechargeable battery and i don't want to do much work on this board because this one works, you know what i mean.. this is my 3rd or 4th board alreadyso please... is there a suitable replacement for the VG2430? ok, i do appreciate the CR2032 mod but it can show some problems with the unibios,BUT!!! if i really have to do the mod... then i'll go for a CR2477

interesting, i use this kind of NiMH battery for my spare 1 slot MV1FS board... on 2 wires, thanks for the linkHere's a drop-in (non-coin cell) replacement:
NEO GEO REPLACEEMNT BATTERY [ES-BATTERY -NEOGEO] - $3.99 : TwistedQuarter.com, Arcade Parts Specialist
TwistedQuarter.com NEO GEO REPLACEEMNT BATTERY [ES-BATTERY -NEOGEO] - REPLACEMENT BATTERY FOR NEO GEO MV2, MV2F, MV4, MV4F, MV4FS2 AND MV4T2 BOARDS. ALSO FOR 1 SLOT BOARD THAT DOES NOT USE A COIN-TYPE RECHARGEABLE LITHIUM BATTERY DOES NOT WORK WITH THE MV6 COMES WITH COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONStwistedquarter.com
still thinking if this doesn't give any trouble.. the VG2430 is 3V and this one is 3.6V right, got itThe problem with going that route is in 20 years you'll end up right back in the same situation, and if no one is still babysitting your board it can leak. Lithium coin cells like the CR2032 rarely leak.
