Sorry to necro this but just to confirm I read this right. If I don't want to cut the 470 resistor then I can just use a coincell holder and a ml2032?
No and I wish people would stop recommending that.

Go read the data sheets for that ML2032 and you'll discover it is being WAY overcharged in that circuit. That circuit was not designed to charge a coin cell and you risk leaking/rupturing of the battery.

hmm, i have a MV4FS board here with a VG2430 on it, i want to replace it with a lir2450 or even a lir2477.. more mAh means i don't have to switch the cab on once a week  what is recommended?? i can also just use a ML2430 if that's better for the board.

Or you could just use a non-chargeable CR2032 and never have to think about it again.

and what if i don't want that??? :sneaky:
i maybe found some suitable replacements..
a VL2330 3V Battery 50mAh (it's a bit low) and the others are in that earlier post but these are not made for this charging circuit so a ML2430 is the final option if i want to use a rechargeable battery in my cab.

You want to charge the battery all the time? The memory will get corrupted by a badly seated or dirty game before too long, so it's not like you're keeping your data forever anyway. Changing the non-rechargeable battery every 5 years or so is a non-issue. I've got a CR2032 from about 2016 in my MV1C that's still going.

ah nice, but there is a difference, i'm ok with a rechargeable battery and i don't want to do much work on this board because this one works, you know what i mean.. this is my 3rd or 4th board already  so please... is there a suitable replacement for the VG2430? ok, i do appreciate the CR2032 mod but it can show some problems with the unibios, BUT!!! if i really have to do the mod... then i'll go for a CR2477 :sneaky:

Do you mean a non-coin cell drop in replacement? That's easy.

Otherwise CR2032 is easier. Directions are everywhere.

hehe, it is for a MV1B or MV1C, a MV4FS needs a very long lasting battery so i don't have to unscrew 12 screws when the battery is dead
i'll go for that big ass battery then! also, i don't know how long it will work on this board, if yours holds a charge for 5 years now, imagine what a 950MaH CR2477 unit can do, don't worry.. it wil work.

Here's a drop-in (non-coin cell) replacement:

interesting, i use this kind of NiMH battery for my spare 1 slot MV1FS board... on 2 wires, thanks for the link :D still thinking if this doesn't give any trouble.. the VG2430 is 3V and this one is 3.6V  sorry for the questions, i just want to be sure.

The problem with going that route is in 20 years you'll end up right back in the same situation, and if no one is still babysitting your board it can leak. Lithium coin cells like the CR2032 rarely leak.
