Bad Dudes wasn't underrated. It was pretty popular when it came out in the arcades of the 80s. It just seems underrated compared to the "supernova" that was pacman, street fighter, etc that continues to ring well past it's lifetime. Most arcade games back then were hot when they came out, then were eclipsed by the new titles that sprang up. Then there are the games that get a very limited release so they never get a chance to shine.... then there are also games that came out around the same time a bunch of other good games, so it was hard to compete for the spotlight. But Bad Dudes? Most people from that era remember or kinda remember the need to save president Ronnie. The NES, PC, Amiga, etc ports also helped it get recognition.
