Which is better: KoF 2k or 2k1?

After reading the review up on the main page for King of Fighters 2001 I was wondering about how Kof2k stood up? I mean i've read a few posts on it but I haven't actually gotten a real answer.

Also, think that Kof 2002 will be any better than the previous games?

add one more:
is the game play in 2k1 faster than 2k or are they the same ?

(2000 was slower than 98 a bit but it was deeper)

2001 is not slower than 2000, its just the character sprites are bigger on the screen. The characters walking speed's seem slower though, but the running speeds & super jumps are faster. The game is very deep in the features & gameplay department though, the sprites being bigger means that combos can be harder to land because there are more points in the body to hit while comboing now.

I hate to say it, but they are very different in the way they are created. They both have there fair share of good points & losses. It depends on personel taste realy, but 2001 is much harder to get used to. But with out the infinites, i would say that 2001 is better by a 10 point margin.
But 2000 is played using different strategies & is a more fun to play, but is not a better game

2002 should be a different experience by far, new game system, characters, story & moves should change quite a bit. If it does not, then snk/eolith are pulling a capcom, not good.

The only 2 KOF games I have are 2K and 2K1 (both MVS). I prefer 2000 to to 2K1 because the animation seems smoother, but I prefer 2K1's option to choose how many strikers you want. I prefer the music in 2000 to 2k1, as 2K1 feels repetitious (sp?) and uninspired.

The gameplay speed seems about the same to me, I put them both in my MVS last night and played 2K then 2K1 and didn't notice any speed differences. I do think the characters sprites are bigger on 2K1 like the_colonel said, but the animation suffers IMHO.

I think 2K and 2K1 are excellent games with flaws. A lot of people blast 2K1, but I think it's 'cause they won't give it a try or give it a chance.

Ao anyway, if stranded on a desert island and was only able to have one of the 2, I'd got for 2K.

Hopefully 2K2 will drop some characters and/or have a higher meg count so we can get some smoother animation and higher quality sprites. As for innovations, I think every KoF has innovated at some level from the previous version, so I think it's a safe bet they will do something to innovate this time as well. ANd if not, then you are correct the_colonel, we have another Capcom.

I played KOF 2001 yesterday...
well ...it reminded me of 98 ...I can say that 2000 and 2001 are the same to me . if you like to combo with a striker , 2000 is 4 u .....if like sharp gameplay 2001 is 4 u
....if you like them both (like me) they will be the same

Cool, I was just about to post a KOF 2000 question, because I haven't heard much about it either. You always hear the debate between 98 and 99, and the controversial 2001, but never anything about 2000. I was just wondering if it was cool.

compared to 98 ....... 2000 has deeper gameplay and uses the best combo and striker system ever (use Seth or "another Iori") and it has great characters that can't be found in 98 (K',Venessa,Jhun,Kula,.......) but I think some people prefer 98 because it has more characters than 2000

check these tournament movies for 2000 in :

<a href="http://www.koforever.cjb.net/" target="_blank">http://www.koforever.cjb.net/</a>

see (KOF '2000 tournament in Kuwait ) it's videos are much better

The music and backgrounds are garbage in both games, so they're about even there. Otherwise, 2001 is better than 2000 by a country mile, unless you're a big fan of Jhun Hoon (like me), but it's still a better game overall. More characters and toned down strikers. The super cancels are a bit problematic, but not that big of a deal.

I don't think the backgrounds are THAT BAD in 2001. As a matter of fact, I like almost all of them.

2000 had shit for backgrounds.

2001 made 2000 look like a grammy award winning musical score.

They are both great games but, you can tell that SNK had little to do with 2001.

2001 is a worthy KoF, it just isn't 2000.

Get 2001 if you like being able to have 1 to 4 strikers...

If you love strikers, get 2000

I figured out my problem. It was a real player file and I didn't have Real player. I downloaded real player and now it works fine. 2000 looks pretty good!

Kof 2k is much more fun than 2k1 but 2k1 is deeper with those supercancels and stuff.kof 2k has slightly better graphics than 2k1's graphics which seem to have taken a step back.
