Would these joystick extenders work with the Neo?

Yeah, so I did a search of the forums for joystick extenders and I found a link somebody provided to a site that had them listed but I couldn't order from... They had a number to a place that I just called and that company didn't even have them listed in their system. Then I did a Google search and found these:

<a href="http://www.gadgetpros.com/joyexcab.html" target="_blank">http://www.gadgetpros.com/joyexcab.html</a>

Would these work? The ends look a little different to me, but I think there's still a chance that they might work. If not, does anybody have any idea of a place that I could possibly get some extenders? These controller cords are just too fucking short.

Oh yeah, and I also don't feel like taking a $30 per cable ass-rape from the Neo store in the off chance that Shawn might get some in, so I'm only looking for a place that charges what they are actually worth...

I've used something similar before, but the male end is not deep enough to make contact with the pins in the controller port socket on the Neo itself.

don't bother with that. I will work for the Mas supernova, but not a neo system. The plugs simply won't reach all the way in.

Fuck. See... That's what I thought. What do I do then? All the places I've found have similar looking plugs. I could probably build them pretty easily, but where would I get the correct cable and plugs ends deep enough to work with the Neo?

Edit: Ho ho ho... I just realized using the word "extension" in a search instead of "extender" might produce different/better results and I found this:

<a href="http://www.connectworld.net/cgi-bin/iec/M1387" target="_blank">http://www.connectworld.net/cgi-bin/iec/M1387</a>

Please tell me these will work... I think this might be a winner.

Thing is with those, they look like the end is plastic, so if they don't fit they'd be easy to sand down to size. At they price it's worth the risk.

BTW, did you get that link from when I posted it? Just wondering.

just scribe the end with an x-acto and then miter cut with a razor blade. Takes 3 or 4 minutes of your life with those cables. Yeah, they're not deep enough as is, but it's too easy to make them work.

those are definitely cheap and look croppable.

I use belkin extension cables from comp usa, and they are a bit pricier. I think you found a better deal.

I went ahead and ordered those $3 ones. I figure I can't go wrong with such a low price. DanAdamKOF yeah I tried the link you posted a while back, and the company I called didn't have any listing of that particular item...

I think what I ordered will work, even if I have to modify them a little it shouldn't be too difficult. Paying $6 is much better than paying $60 for cords.

Yup.

I just picked up any old generic p.c. extention leads, I use them all the time...they're great! You could even hook as many as you want together! I hooked some up to my board on my six slot MVS cab...trailed the wire out the back added a couple more....and hey presto! Now I can play my MVS cab from my bed!!! Highly Reccommended!

I use PC extention leads as well and never had any probs.
Got them for 0.99 pence each (about 65 cents) from my local EB/GAME store.

Chainsawyak thank you for the link. I was also looking for some of these but didn't want to get raped on the price.

Bump because that company doesn't make those awesome looking extensions anymore either. I got an email from them saying my order was cancelled.

What the fuck do I do now? I guess I'll look at CompUSA or something...

I got some generic joystick extentions from here:

<a href="http://www.callcct.com/" target="_blank">http://www.callcct.com/</a>

They are just standard computer db-15 cables but they only cost $1 dollars each and they are 10 feet long. The minimum order purchase on the site is $5 dollars so if you plan to order some you will have to get 5 unless you get some other stuff.

I have 5 of these bad boys right now and they will be put to good use on my supergun.

See now that's what the fuck I'm talkin' about. $1 sure is cheaper than $30 for a cable. I went ahead and ordered 6 of these, I'm assuming you physically have these and have tried them out with the Neo ports. Thanks for the link, I'll keep my fingers crossed that these are still in stock.

If they are sold out though I can always fall back on the link Charlie gave me. Looks like I'm in the clear.

Ah wait! Which db-15 cables did you get. Did you get these:

<a href="http://www.callcct.com/cgi-bin/cart/wamy.cgi?wuser=cables&searchtype=fieldmatch&fields=xindex&search=2627&table=inv&head=dhead.html&foot=rfoot.html&template=detail.html" target="_blank">http://www.callcct.com/cgi-bin/cart/wamy.cgi?wuser=cables&searchtype=fieldmatch&fields=xindex&search=2627&table=inv&head=dhead.html&foot=rfoot.html&te mplate=detail.html</a>

I dont think these will plug into the home system controller ports (i have no home system to test this out on). Since they are just computer cables i am pretty sure the connector part will be to short to make contact with the pins in the controller port! I am sorry if my above post was misleading! I wasn't thinking about using these with a home system but rather a supergun.

I just checked and the cables will not plug into the controller ports on my 2 slot mvs board. I am assuming that the Home system control ports are the same as the mvs control ports.

Ahh man now i feel like a bastard.

D'oh. Well, to get technical I am looking for these mainly for use with my MVS board hooked up to a Supergun, but yeah I want to use them with the Home joysticks not the Nova joysticks. So I guess I should cancel this order or something, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

There's no way I could mod these or do something to them to make them work with the Home joysticks?

Edit: So you will be plugging your home system sticks into the extension cables? And then your db15 cables will plug into your supgerun or to your mvs board?

If you plugged your controllers into db15 cables that might work, but again the male pins on the cables might not make contact with the female ends in the controller.

Sorry to cause you all the trouble. Probably be best to cancel the order.

Perhaps if you could get some better ends (longer ones?) for the cables? But then that would probably end up costing more and probably wouldn't be worth the effort.

Yeah, it's no problem man. Thanks for the help, I know I'll get some that will work eventually. I sent the company an email saying that I want to cancel the order, I'm sure it won't be a big deal. And if for some reason they miss it and just send me these, what the fuck. It's no big deal, life will go on.

I'm gonna go to sleep now. It's fuckin' late.

Bizump.

So I get home today and I see a package, and it's the 6 extenders that I had ordered a month ago when this thread was posted. I emailed them that night when I found out they wouldn't work, but I didn't hear jack shit from them either way so I figured they had just cancelled it. I guess not because I now had 6 unusable joystick extenders in my possession...

Or were they unusable?

I'm looking at the cable and the Neo stick plug was making contact just fine, but the problem was, like Jigen said, in the controller socket on my 2-Slot board. To make a long story short, I clipped away the excess plastic around the controller sockets and they work fine. A bit crude I know, but I now have 2 perfectly usable joystick extenders that I paid a dollar for. Awesome.

Now the only question is what to do with the remaining 4....

Anybody need any joystick extenders? :D

I see these "Y" DB-15 cable adapters (2 to one port) on eBay for like $.25. Could these be of use for joy extenders or making an original joystick?
