Hi there, I wrote an article about the inner workings of the Neo-Geo. I ended up referencing a lot of the NeoGeo Development Wiki (which it's been a massive help) but I still haven't showed it to anyone. So, I was wondering if anyone would like to give it a read and share some comments before I publish it.

Here it is: https://www.copetti.org/writings/consoles/neogeo-private-330 . It's a 'private' draft for now.

Thanks!

Why not have an illustration of the AES stick instead of the generic one?

This is all lies.
I've opened my AES up and all that's in there is 100 MEGA SHOCK NEO•GEO POWAH!

This is cool. I'll read it in more detail when I have more time.

I did notice this: "16 x 16 pixels (2 x 2 tiles) to 16 x 512 pixels (2 x 32 tiles)". Sprite tiles are 16x16 (fix tiles are 8x8), so sprites are sized from 1x1 tile to 1x32 tiles.

edit: I've now read the whole thing. Nice write up. Unless getting really pedantic and nit picky, the only error I could see is the tile size mentioned above. Also Windjammers came out in 1994 I believe.

No special reason, it's just that I haven't found a descent icon with a permissive license.

Notice the number at the end of the article's link 😉

Thanks! I'll correct it then!
