I was recommended a list of 80s Japanese citypop and I've just been listening to that for two damn months straight now. On the bus, on the subway, climbing a mountain, down by the river, walking the dog, all citypop all the time. Kill me Bobak.

If I had to pick only ONE summer jam of 2024, it would be カシミヤのほほえみ by Junko Yagami. I don't even know the English name, I had to copy it.

Runner up would be Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon. Listened to that a lot in late July, early August as well.

City Pop is like the 80s British/ America Pop Music Equivalent it’s just one ear worm after another endless candy hooks.

When I think of that Carly Simon song I immediately think of 007. I’m actually listening to an Ian Fleming in Jamaica audiobook at the moment during my commute so that’s been my “Summer Jam” recently.
