great quality IPS screen (y)

I still dont like Anbernic home made front-end, but I think it's always possible installing Daijishō.

Emulation Station DE on Android is very nice as well. I'm currently setting that up on my RP4 Pro

Not really interested in playing Switch on a 4:3 screen, but not bad performance

A bit lite I think, but why not for all ported games (arcade archive...)

Edit: it use only default driver. It could be better with the Mesa Turnip driver.

@1:28 we can see mapping tool.
I don't know if it's homemade software by Ayaneo or if this one already exists, but it looks nice.
Trackpad can simulate a second joystick controller

Update on the Anbernic 406V - just got it in today.

First off, I have bought 4 or 5+ systems through Anbernic over the years. They've always been the highest quality and feel good in the hands. For whatever reason (bad luck?) this one arrives with a scuff right by the screen and a smudge on the back. No screen cover to peel off and the system was on when it arrived and already set up entirely in Chinese. Almost how a USED system would appear or seem. So, they are on vacation for some Chinese thing 'til Oct. 8 - but so far, not good. Very annoyed.

I also opted for the 128gb version thinking it would be decent pick up and play, no effort to setup....WRONG! Never buying a pre-made SD card from the jabronis ever again. Waste of $20.

Yes, pre-made SD is useless :giggle:

Update on the 406V. I overreacted and the "scratch" was some random adhesive that came right off. Got it 90% set up to my liking and it's wonderful. The blacks on the screen are better in person. Great screen.

Also not as big as I was expecting. Basically DMG size. Just a tad wider. Perfect for normal man hands.

What's your opinion of the d-pad?
It's excellent. I've had a few others they've made and the pads have always been great. It's more SNES feeling than the Retroid stuff as of late. Those are more "vita" feeling. But ZERO complaints about this one.

So, another unsolicited 406V update. I've noticed the usual YouTube goobs are kinda trashing this one. I think (for fair reason) because of Anbernic release fatigue. I get it. But I don't have to review these things for affiliate dollars. No skin in the game.

That said, this thing is dope AF. 4x3 content is amazing on this. GBA is amazing on this. It's handling most GC and PS2 I've thrown at it. Granted, I can upscale on my RP4 PRO, but I'm kinda shocked at how good native resolution looks on this.

I love the form factor. I love the screen. The controls are top notch. Battery life is nuts. I literally have zero gripes.

I've had a few drinks and I am sitting here playing it while my wife watches TV, and thinking about how much I love it and wanted to share. Oh! And the buttons are quiet.

Retro Dodo ?
I have see his "review" too. In my opinion, he just doesn't like Anbernic.

I'm late to the party but I picked up an ARC-S last week, it was just $70 and definitely worth that to me. I'm still amazed that a shitty no-name portable can play Atomiswave and Naomi games.

Having a 6 button + shoulder buttons layout is perfect for the Aki N64 games and they run great on the standalone Mupen emulator, but has anyone here managed to change the button layout on it? The newest official firmware fixed the issue of toggling between analog and digital controls on the d-pad, but totally fucks the button layout by flat out not bothering to even map 2 of the buttons.

I don't remember for mapping issue, I use TheRA instead of official firmware (Tech Toy Tinker).
