Comparing AES to MVS

Kind of a basic question, but is there any diffrences between the neo-geo arcade board (mvs) and the home version (aes)?
One of the main reasons I always wanted a Neo was the fact its games were identical to the arcade versions....I don't own one yet but am looking to puchase one of the mega-neo's from this site down the road.
I read a review on a game (can't remeber which one) but it said that the AES version was slightly slower than its arcade version....I don't understand that as I thought they were all the same program.
Does the AES board have the same amount of memory/cpu mhz/ as the mvs board?Basically are the guts the same?
The only thing I could think of is that the AES version has censorship for blood and gore ect...and maybe this would slow some games down alittle because the CPU has to keep checking/makine sure not to display any of that....if this is the case, would installing the debug chip actually make the game a little faster since it is running the way it was intended?
I'm just getting into the system, and this site for that matter,so I have alot to learn...

Thanks

All of the electronics in the AES are basically identical - except for the bios. The bios is what tells the games how to run, and it will control things like language, the violence level, arcade vs. home mode, etc.

Basically, if you want your home system to function just like the MVS does, then just get yourself a debug bios and either a)install it yourself or b) have someone on the forums install it. I'd recommend just sending it off to someone (either Kenny Boy or JMKurtz), and having them mod it for S-video, stereo, and debug bios installation. If you're gonna take the time to mail it off to them, you may as well get all three done at once.

The JPN AES is totally uncensored. The US AES is censored...no red blood or Mia bounce.

The Universe BIOS will also work on a AES now :D

hmmmm... so if I own a Japanese home console and am not interested in the cheats, why should I want a bios mod?

surely you would want to be able to reset the system without getting off your seat, or any of the other brilliant things the Unibios does.

I can't even imagine having a neo without the unibios anymore!

there is a difference between the MVS and Aes games little things . I like to play both versions to see the differences , Aes has more scenes different endings Mvs gives you unlimited continues without which some games are impossible or very hard to beat Crossed swords , Last Resort , Magician Lord (doesnt help though) I also couldn't imagine having another system without a bios again .
