Today I went to test my supergun to the 2950Q.

Every other console works using RGB + LM1881 for sync. For some odd reason the sync works only on the HD Comp plug. Ext Sync doesn't work here even with the LM1881.

So I tested a bunch of CPS2 boards and CPS1 and everything is fine.

When I went to test my Killer Instinct 1 and 2 board the PVM goes black every 2 or 3 seconds.
If I press the RGB to component button the image is fixed but with colors messed up.

Any idea what could cause this or if there's any fix for that?

Not that I've heard of. I leave a 1943MD in tate myself, and I've left a couple consumer CRT TV's that way for years at a time. Just leave it unplugged for a few minutes before/after rotation, and degauss it when you turn it back on.

Thanks skate!

I'mma gonna try it out!
Damn thing weighs a ton.

Maybe I should workout more.... nah, it would still weigh a ton!

Once I rotate it, it's gonna stay.

---Quack.

Just picked up two PVM-1354Qs for $47 on eBay! The guy actually lives about a mile away so I'll be picking them up tomorrow. I'm already in the process of getting rid my two other PVMs (a 1390 and 1344Q) as I unfortunately don't have enough room for four.

PVM-2530 Internal pics

Picked up a Sony PVM-2530 locally, its old and seems quite used, but picture looks great, however, seems not properly centered, too much to the left.

Pulled it open yesterday, took a bunch of pics, posting as seems like there is a lack of internal pics.

I've since cleaned it up a lot.

Mostly interested in adjusting the focus and horizontal balance. Anyone able to identify the focus or horizontal shift pots?

blow that shit out!

lol I did that straight after I took these pics.
Whenever I take the lid of something I take a bunch of pics first before anything.

I just used a vacuum with long couch attachment and gently used the brushes, got a lot of it, but still need to do the bottem half.

So far no advice on which pots to play with :(

look for the H(horizontal) or the V(vertical) and you should be able to center it. Did you search for a manual on line?

Yeah searched an searched for the service manual, no luck. I was surprised as loads of people seem to have this model and its been around a LONG time.

I watched that video of the PVM restoration for the art exhibit, looks like they have a pile of PVM-2030's but when they say the guy is adjusting the focus he's turning a pot on the top right, mine has nothing there like that.

I was hoping I could use that vid as a sorta guide, but now guessing the 2030 is different from the 2530.

Thanks again for your advice, I am going to try and get a test patter on there and mess around a bit.

I got some electrical screwdrivers so I'm hoping I won't kill myself.

My PVM-1354Q is a dream compared to this beat, it was barely used when i got it and is perfect. I had to pay for her, but this 2530 was practically free so I couldn't let her slip through my fingers.

I got a 25 pin cable from retrocables.co.uk and have PS1/PS2 and a Saturn hooked up to it via RGB and it looks pretty amazing, just needs some adjustments and a good clean.

All I know is I want more PVM's or if I'm lucky a 20 inch BVM!

Cheers,

Trying to locate the focus pot.

Everyone says its on the flyback, don't see anything labeled focus or anything like it.

This red thing has a dial on it, is this the focus?

Guys, I need any information you might have concerning a Panasonic WV-CM2080/G monitor, specs below:

panasonic.jpg

From what I can see the bummer is that it does not do RGB - only S-video.
Nevertheless the upside here is that its brand new in box never been used old stock. Price is around 60 USD.
Is this a good deal or really am I better of holding out for a RGB monitor? From what I recall RGB --> S-video is not simply a cable matter but requires some processign of the signal.

I like it, and being brand new it will probably look damn good. BUT, no RGB would be the deal breaker for me. I have a 13 inch PVM and it looks amazing just over regular composite, I dunno if that would be the case at the 20 inch mark.

For $60 you could get a good PVM at that screen size, I'd pass on that.

I found a pair of 20" Sony Triniton GDM-2036S monitors on the side of the road. Are these any good? I'm going to pickup a Dreamcast in the next day or two and test it out. One is working and the other won't power on.

Thanks for your thoughts, I agree and will not be pursuing this further especially since you can get plenty of CRT TV's with SCART RGB here for peanuts which are likely to do a better job.

yeah if in the UK/Europe you are lucky in regards to RGB tv's with SCART inputs.

I am kicking myself for not grabbing a nice 20 inch RGB high end telly with SCART when I was living there, but no luck finding one with dual voltage.

I did bring back a RGB/SCART enabled 32 LG LCD that luckily was dual voltage, but it sucks compared to a real CRT. However, now that I've obtained two PVM's I'm pretty happy.
