I missed this, most subversive answer in the thread.

My honest answer is either condensed tomato soup with grilled cheese (american slices on white bread pan fried in mayo) if I'm feeling 5 or probably a really good French Onion soup.

Either Broccoli Cheddar or New England Clam Chowder in a good bread bowl also sounds great when its cold.

I just can’t get excited about soup.

If chili is a soup then that’s my favorite. If it’s not, then I choose clam chowder.

I mean is a curry a soup? Even if I spoon it over rice? Then that’s my favorite actually.

As far as a soup soup then I like a nice homemade chicken noodle soup or chicken and rice soup.

Yeah, Chilli is considered a soup but most people make it rather thick. I prefer the lighter/soupier variant with chunks of meat.

Soup is great is life.

P.s. chowder doesn't seem to be a thing here
That is horrifying. What 4th world country do you live in where chowder doesn't exist?

Yeah, Chilli is considered a soup
Not in the US.

Quick google search as to whether chili is considered soup:

Chili doesn't usually have broth or stock, and therefore it is not a soup.

Chili is considered a type of stew because of its low liquid content and is usually made with chilis or chili powder.

Fair enough, I could be wrong with the soup thing, heard it from a cook who worked at a Tex Mex restaurant over here.

My wife loves minced meat and specially chilli, she makes it rather stew-like and I love it but I've also had the more soupier variants and must say that I slightly prefer them over the stew type. I guess it's more of an issue of texture for me than taste.

Tom Kha might be the Thai soup you’re thinking of, Tak?

@SK: chowder not a thing where you are? Bring the chowder to yourself-make your own!

It’s just boiling them to get them soft, and netting yourself some veggie stock while you are at it.

Not how I usually do my soups, but this one is a winner. Really yummy w/ shrimp tossed in at the end.

1) boil veg
2) make roux
3) combine roux into veggies & water
4) add cream corn, 2 small bags of frozen corn, and shredded cheese.

Heat to boil while stirring often; at first bubbles, lower to simmer. Simmer until ready to eat.

Probably Lohikeitto, a creamy Salmon soup, hearty and easy to make.

Sorry but…

“Flavor of soup” is not a thing anyone says, androids maybe. It’s not soda. Tomato soup isn’t flavored with tomatoes, it simply IS tomatoes. You flavor it with pepper or whatever.
