I am out of the loop, what can you do with a modded 360?

I might want to have one modded. Or might buy a pre-modded system.

Have dealt with quite a few people here, figured it was a good place to ask. My search on Google only confused me.

Just had mine flashed so you can play backed up games. Any drive type can be flashed and usually costs about 20-30 quid.

Had my elite done as ill be picking up teh new 360.

Depends on how it's modded. The ultimate mod involved "jtagging" a system. This turns the 360 region free and allows you to play all burns/backups.

More common mods are drive based and allow you to play burns.

Flashing involves opening up the console, removing the harddrive (PC component), hooking it up through an IDE cable and flashing the bios through software.

The Jtag, involves extracting the Nand, which is located in the chip and rewriting parts of it. This involves wires to be attached to the motherboard itself and it takes a few hours for the extraction to complete.

Its better if you just post an ad on kijiji or craigslist asking for somebodies assistance. Often, these people will sell you a premodded system for a price.

The only problem is, that once an update comes out, you will have to take it back to the same guy to be updated again. For the newer games wont work. (Dif wave file on the disk)

Can you go online with back up games and how often do x-box 360's break down

Lastly, any news with PS3 in that manner as well

Yeah you can go online, but you will have to run the iso file through a program and stealth patch it.

Also not a very good idea to go online with a game thats not even out yet, if you know what I mean but of course we all only get out 360s modded to run backed up games that we already own right..... ;-)

Flashing the DVD drive is the safest and easiest way to mod your 360.

The other methods people are talking about are rare and not very useful.

The PS3 has had no real progress. There are theoretical ways, but they involve some serious mobo bridging.

M$ can detect a number of mod types and ban the consoles. Even if you do a mod that isn't currently being targetted, there's no telling if they wouldn't be detected and banned a month down the line.

True. My solution is to have multiple systems. Not willing to give up Xbox Live yet. Though I am kind of hanging on for the fun I used to have playing online.

The Jtag, involves extracting the Nand,

I LoL'd

I can't figure out why the Triple is region free while the 360 varies by game.

I wouldn't mess around with mods, because you'll get banned from Live.
Unless you only use it to play backups or JP games and don't take it online.
