This is rediculous but I'm trying to find out what this song is. It's from the 80's. Totally synthed out pop song. Sounds like Duran Duran but it's not. The chorus of the song is a man saying "Oh" in different lengths - goes something like this:

something at night
something at night (not real words)
ooooo
oo
*pause*
*pause*
*pause*
ooooo
ah
ooooo
o
o
o
o
oooooooooooooooooooh

I know it's not a lot of info and it sounds stupid but if you actually singing the "ooo"s out loud for their lengths, I bet you would know what song I'm talking about.

I gotta know what this song is. It's killing me inside.

Not Self Control, I know that song and this is a male singer that sings this song. Think of a Duran Duran type sound.

Not Tarzan Boy. The "ooo"s in this song aren't like the annoying Tarzan Boy "ooo"s.

Keep trying. :)

Yeah, sounds like Tarzan Boy by Baltimora with your Duran Duran reference, I can't think of any other 80's songs that fit in with your loose description I'm afraid.

Any idea on nationality/accent on the singer? Does "night" figure prominently in the lyrics?

Was this popular?

Racking my brains and I can only come up with "In the Heat of the Night" and "This could be the Night" but those are rock/ballad types...

Not Pleasure Dome but the voice is slightly similar.
Not Strange Advance...the voice on that is way off.
Not Ultravox - Dancing with Tears but I do love that song.

The voice for this song is definitely European. The closest voice I can think of is Tears for Fears. That's what I really remember...maybe it could be them...I should do some research but that is the closest voice. The style of the song actually matches that of Tears for Fears also.

Don't focus on the "night" lyrics. I'm not even sure if "night" is in the lyrics - just kinda what I remembered. I just used that because I remember a three or four word phrase repeated twice before the "ooo"s came out. The most important part is those "ooo"s and the length of them. It has kind of the same "ooo" style as Tarzan Boy as it is used in the chorus but not used obnoxiously. The "ooo"s are sung with feeling (as stupid as that sounds) :lolz:

If you sing it out like I typed it and have heard this song before...you would know it instantly.

Sorry I don't have any more info but this is fun isn't it? :loco:

Tears For Fears aren't very Duran Duran tho imo...

Timing on the "ooo"s may help. This is the chorus and you hear it maybe 3-4 times in the song. The "ooo"s are definitely the hook of the song.

blah blah blah blah -- (4 words said, then pause for 1 second)
blah blah blah blah -- (same 4 words said, pause for .5 seconds)

ooooo -- (.5 seconds)
ooooooooo -- (1.5 seconds)

*pause* --(2 second pause)

ooooo --(.5 seconds)
ah -- (just say ah - very brief)
ooooo -- (.5 seconds)
o -- (just say "o")
o -- (just say "o")
o -- (just say "o")
o -- (just say "o")
oooooooooooooooooooh -- (3 seconds)

Not Seeds of Love. You're right though about Tears for Fears not sounding like Duran Duran. I just thought of them now as a better comparison. Go with Tears for Fears.

Would you say it's mid 80's or late 80's, a group or a solo performer?

Something by a-ha perhaps?

Maybe if you told us where you're hearing this song it would help? Was it just on the radio?

Gawd, I'm sorry. I dont know any of that info. I could guess but I wouldn't want to throw people off any leads they might think of. I do know that it is not A-ha. I would recognize that voice and it's not him who is singing it.

Could this possibly be New Order or Depeche Mode? Just trying to narrow things down.
