I decided to sell this as I do not foresee developing any Neo Geo games in the forseeable future. Price is $5,000 firm. Comes with instruction manual. Buyer agrees that contents of manual cannot be posted publicly but is usable with the cartridge.

Am preferring to do sale in person in Southern California. For safety for both buyer and seller.

Game chips onboard are presently Windjammer with no sound. (I did a bad burn and was too lazy to fix up)

Why is this? and what gives you the right to demand such an agreement of an item that will no longer be in the past owners possession?

I offer $100.

You could rip the chips off a pair of bootleg boards and pop your own on and get the same effect. And if you're a programmer you won't care about a manual.

Basically so he can say "Hey, I told him not to do that, he agreed, I can't be held responsible."

My offer still stands.

Dude, the manual alone could be worth that much to the right person.

It contains the secrets for unlocking the Neo-Geo hardware.

Very specific developer codes.

The cart isnt the main attraction here.

I will need to talk with some friends I worked with over there on their opins, but based on this, I will withdraw the manual portion which was a bonus rather than the main attraction. Price still stands for now.

based on what exactly? wouldn't want 'teh codez' falling into the wrong hands, someone might learn how to program an obscure and out of production game system.

yeah only a obscure and out of production game system that still sells a few games for $1,500.00 a piece or more, cause of that I guess some secrets have to be kept as that "secrets"! because some people don't know how to handle sensitive information so it doesn't fall on the wrong hands!

We already have homebrew developers.

Obviously, programming for the Neo isn't some big secret. What is the big deal about the manual.

The developer manual is a matter of national security. Can you imagine what would happen if the russkies got their mitts on it?

If you search hard enough, you can find 'most' of the Developer Manual already freely available on the internet.
The world has not collapsed just yet.

was simply a matter of tryng out on my favorite Neo Geo website first before going open market with it. It will go open auction then next week. Thanks.

On the manual, tis simply if I won't get in trouble releasing it. If I get the blessing, I would give it out freely, period. I have already released two prototype gamees that the MAME team are busily updating their drivers with...

Anyway, Tony, I am very grateful to you for posting this pictures and info here about the item.

A shame 5000$ is a very serious amount of money for so many people these days.

Who would you be getting the blessing from? SNK/Playmore? I don't really think they care, bro.

LOL! You're making a big deal out of nothing. I doubt anyone gives a shit at this point.

Safety? You should probably make the drop in a crowded train station to confuse whoever you think is following you.

Can you clear some confusion?

This thread has become a nightmare, Tony.

I agree, Tony has gotten roasted here but mostly just because of harsh misinterpretations of the words chosen in his original post.

I am interested in the item, but I do have some questions/concerns though. Is your memory perhaps out dated as to what you said regarding Windjammers? The PROG board only has two eproms populating the board (1meg chips) and the CHA board also has 2 (1meg chips) and 8 (4meg chips) My math tells me you have a 36 meg version of the 74 meg Windjammers?

Even assuming the sound chips were "not burned at all" (rather then not burned "correctly" as you alluded to) the sound section of a Windjammers does not require 38 megs of data. So the game on this board cannot possibly under ANY circumstances be Windjammers.

Is the MVS cartridge shown in the first picture only there as a referance to show scale/size of the DEV board? Or is it a "gutted" shell with the top missing in order to "house" the circuit boards? If so, you didn't state which?

I have already contacted my connections over at the MAME group, as well as the GURU himself to check/verify the answer to my next question, but I would rather hear it from you if possible. The question being, are the two prototypes that you sent to be dumped for mame of unreleased software, or are they betas of released games?

Lastly, is this item something which you have had in your possession since the 1992-1996 era when you worked at SNK and you simply never came forward with it until now, or did you just recently acquire this item elsewhere?

Many thanks, hope your doing well, and sorry about the fact that we can be abrasive in these forums. It's rough here at times!

Just to set the record straight I wasn't meaning to bust Tony's balls with my initial response, I was just genuinly curious. Is wording is a bit strange though (both in the initial post and throughout the rest of the thread).

Did he indeed work for SNK back in the day?

Supergun: I did not make a copy of the sound sample chips. The graphics do play ok. I can plug it in and take pictures if I get the time. I also do feel that 5K is fairly reasonable for a developer cart since prototypes are going for 10 times as much.

Orpheus: Yes indeed, it was my second job lasting 5 years after a 6 year stint at Romstar. I left SNK when the company moved up north to be close to the manufacturing of the Neo Print system. I am presently working on military and medical computer system manufacturing along with some side jobs such as game repair at a local amusement park and creating a new computer system for an airplane and 3 movie soundtracks.

The two MAME prototypes I lent out are NOT Neo Geo games and both came from my days at Romstar. In fact for giggles, let me show you the cabinet to Cybertank out in my middle shed.

Also Supergun, the cart alongside in the pictures I put for size comparison is one of my favorite games, Gururin.
