Descriptions of the new enemies and weapons in Legacy of Rust:
Spoiler:

Banshee - Based on an unused enemy somewhat similar to The Blob, explodes when slain or upon entering contact with the player. It has 100 hit points.
Ghoul - Based on an early lost soul design. Flies around and shoots fast projectiles that deal 3-24 damage. It has 50 hit points.
Shocktrooper - Based on the player's sprites. Fires a plasma gun at a fast rate. It has 100 hit points.
Mindweaver - Based on an early version of the arachnotron with a super chaingun, functions as a weaker version of the spiderdemon. It has 500 hit points.
Vassago - A large charred-black demon with wings. It throws fireballs that burn for a few seconds after impact. It has 1000 hit points.
Tyrant - A cyberdemon with green wires and no horns. It has 1000 hit points.

Incinerator - based on an early plasma rifle design
Calamity blade - an unused weapon from the early design days

Cool that a lot of it is based on unused or earlier versions of the monsters that made it into the original game.

In all there are six new enemies and two weapons. This is the first time new weapons and enemies have been included in an official Doom or Doom II wad since Doom II added 8 monsters and the super shotgun. The Sigil games are all Doom 1 as far as weapons and enemies while Final Doom, No Rest for the Living, and Master Levels are all Doom II.
The ghouls are annoying little cock suckers, i swear.
Im on i believe the 6th map of legacy of rust and it is fucking hardddd. They basically only give you ammo for the incinerator and not nearly enough to deal with the enemies. Ive been enjoying the expansion a lot up until this level though!

I will admit I liked Doom 3 back then.

if you look at it as a spin-off / stand alone title it was a neat space horror shooter.
It's a horrible shooter. The gunplay fucking sucks in the game. Enemies take way too many hits to kill but aren't actually a threat to kill you so everything is just tedious. Then you have to fuck with the dumbass flashlight unless you're playing the BFG edition.

How the fuck you make a Doom game with a bad shotgun I'll never know.

I'm sure any technical issues will be ironed out fast. When the previous Doom Unity port launched it was a technical disaster for several months.

The main thing they need to fix right now is that the console versions don't have access to the classic cheats. They need to add a text menu for them.

Good video, although that screen where he was talking about the minor video problem, I could neither see it in his video or in my game. Maybe I need a 4k screen for it to be an issue? I do wish they spoke more about what the main selling point to me is, and that it has super easy cross platform multiplayer. There's a brief line about it right at the end, and for me more than anything that's the main feature. It's hard to get your casual ass friends to agree to online doom using PC source ports or the previously lackluster console versions.

It is good.
Those that complain about it now don't realize how groundbreaking the game was upon release.
People were upgrading their PC's in anticipation and it was a fun survival horror take on the tired old Doom formula.
So yeah.
Fucking get a load of this guy. “Tired old doom formula”
Still getting new expansions mods and map packs 30 years later. Real tired!!!!!

Still boring, no matter what you say.

It was fun in 1995. But most of us played it to death and have zero desire to return to it.
DId you play Doom for the first time in 2015 or something?

It wasn't groundbreaking at all. It had neat sound design and good graphics, that's about it. It's not survival horror if none of the enemies are a real threat to kill you and ammo and health supplies are plentiful, and it's not a good shooter if the gunplay fucking sucks. And you know what else sucked? The 12 hours worth of horrible, unskippable cutscenes.

"groundbreaking"

It came out the same damn year as Half-Life 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, Halo 2, Counterstrike: Source, and fucking Far Cry. If anything it was a big step backwards. Shit game then, shit game now, go fuck yourself.

It was groundbreaking and the flashlight mechanic was enjoyable. Maybe not to you, but to a good majority of gamers.

I downloaded the demo in '93 - immediately bought the full version - and I don't think a week goes by I don't play a level or two of it to this day. I've played it to death and then some. It's perfect and continues to show it's importance.

The flashlight mechanic was so fucking enjoyable they re-built the whole ass game to get rid of it with BFG Edition.

Nobody liked it because it was fucking stupid. We're supposed to believe these UAC fucks have mastered space travel, interdimensional teleportation, and plasma weaponry but they can't fucking figure out how to point a light and a gun in the same direction?

You know why they didn't bother remastering Doom 3 again? Because the community for the game is dead. Nobody likes it, nobody wants to revisit it.

Well, I guess we'll agree to disagree.
Doom was fun for its time.
But I can't be bothered to play it anymore. Just like Super Mario Bros and Zelda...played these damn games to death over and over back when they were new.
Your mileage may vary! :fedora:

But you're in here pining for Doom 3, the most generic ass jump scare simulator ever released.
