NGPC Region catalogue number differences

Anyone made any sense of SNK's numbering system for NGPC games?


Talking about US releases made me wonder. Don't know why it's of any interest or just that I've had a few bevvys but......

So!
For example, Shanghai Mini
Japanese release: NEOP00400
USA release: NEOP00401
UK release: NEOP0040

Dark arms
USA: NEOP00451
UK: NEOP0045

Seems reasonable?

But Cotton Fantastic Night Dreams.
Japanese Version: NEOP00800
UK Version: NEOP0105

So where did that come from?

SNK has never been known for the best organization. As far as I know, this is just an exception to the usual rule.
