The exa version is titled Exact Mix and uses a full widescreen playfield, so a bit different than seen here. As far as I'm aware, no exa version of anything has ever been ported elsewhere.
I'd recommend trying this game first though. It's a cool game but I don't think everyone will like how it plays.

I thought the EXA version had some slightly redrawn sprites, or at least a little reshading to increase the number of colors per sprite. This looks like the straight NES version.
