Some comparisons:Hugo is heavily dithered and color reduced due to the Neo having more limited color capabilities than the cps3, but putting him in the game would have been simple.
Ironically I really wish they had taken the time to redo him. Of all the characters out there, I'd have love to have seen Hugo in the goofy SVC style. It would have been interesting to say the least.
This forum suggests so - I haven't owned it but I remember that when I was purchasing some games for my fighting game quest I saw WTBs for SvC+ (plus red flashing version) more often than for the original. It fixed hitboxes? Everyone just says the characters are unlocked and that's all that's different.
Can you go see an eye doctor please or I dunno does a taste doctor exist? It looks badI'm referring primarily to the character sprites. They're fantastic and not a bad one in the bunch IMO.
Only one that kind of bugs me is Hugo just because he's a straight up sprite rip from SF3 and sticks out like a sore thumb since he's still very clearly Capcom styled. It's also just an unusual thing when you think about it. I don't even know how you can rip a sprite from a CPS3 game and put it in the freaking Neo-Geo..., but there you go.
The stages are a mixed bag. The "Nude Place", "Green of Forest", Boss temple, and Hell stages are well done, especially those last two. The rest I agree with you, they're bland, muted, and really unpleasant to look at. The abandoned factory and the train ones are especially awful.
Jeez have some discipline. It's wankI'm forced to agree. I've always hated this game but would often play it just because of its significance. Now I find myself being lured back in and actually considering dropping some big money on a deluxe edition! Why?????!!
Yup, my thoughts exactly.Having said that, re-releasing this makes it seem like it's a game worthy of getting re-released and putting new eyes on it and it mostly definitely isn't.
To this day I never got why they were so god damn lazy with Morrigan. That sprite looked so out of fucking place. Hell they even legit drew a new verison of Nakoruru. As far as aesthetics, I think CvS1 looks pretty damn fantastic. The backgrounds are very well done, the SNK sprites and the new Capcom sprites are nice and fit their style. Sure, you've got some sore thumbs like Morrigan,
It fixed hitboxes? Everyone just says the characters are unlocked and that's all that's different.
My biggest complaint about the whole game is the charge motions. You can't block while charging down.I searched all over for the version that supposedly put in KoF style rolling instead of that GCFS nonsense, but was never able to find any evidence it even existed. Same with the hitbox issue, I've seen people say this multiple times but have never actually seen someone point out any specific evidence of it. I'd love to be proven wrong about both.
The only legit improving I've seen was with the controls on the Xbox/PS2 ports. Charge motions felt much less strict than the original.
i think Capcom will release the CVS games. Would have been a bit weird if SNK released all of the crossover games together .I just had a thought. Why the hell didn't they just make this shit a collection? Snk vs Capcom 1 & 2 and this game? I would have pretty much bought day one.
The original agreement for the crossovers is each company would retain all profits for the games they developed, so Capcom kept all the money for CvS1 and 2, and SNK kept all the money for MOTM, the card games, and SvC Chaos.I just had a thought. Why the hell didn't they just make this shit a collection? Snk vs Capcom 1 & 2 and this game? I would have pretty much bought day one.
But at least they added new animations (such as running) for each character to match the play style.I think that in cvs 1 and 2 all Capcom sprites which were taken from SFZ are actually as bad as Morrigans' sprite
Like a sacred monument to sprite-based perfection lolBut at least they added new animations (such as running) for each character to match the play style.
You know who the only one was who didn't receive that new animation? Morrigan. They just had her dash forward at an angle.
They *really* didn't want to touch that sprite, at all.
Alright mate, keep your hair on.
OMG samsies!yeah, I prefer CVS1 to 2, but not by much. Fuck those games.
there's still reddit or neogaf for your people like you, nobody is allowed to hurt your feelings on the latter.I appreciate this post. You just reminded me while I stayed away from this site for 10 years. Thanks for refreshing my memory
Therein lies it's charm. The more I play this the more I start to believe it's both simultaneously shit AND really fucking good.
