your top 10 picks for current gen.

1) RE4 (both cube and PS2 versions were fantastic, great characters, tons of replay value)
2) MGS3: Subsistence (best in the franchise, CQC was the shit)
3) MGS2: Substance (VR missions kicked ass, main game was meh cause of raiden)
4) Guilty Gear XX # reload (good balance, refreshing fighter)
5) DMC (kinda boring after 1 play through but was still really good)
6) Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (fuck the haters the art style was great)
7) Shin megami tensei: Nocturne (best RPG of the past 7 or 8 years)
8) MGS: The Twin Snakes (fun, but not as good as the others)
9) Resident Evil: Remake (great game with better graphics)
10) Ninja Gaiden Black (Good Graphics, cool characters)

In no particular order:

1. RE4
2. Rez
3. Final Fantasy X
4. Zelda: Wind Waker
5. Metroid Prime
6. SFAC (Xbox version for Live play)
7. Halo
8. MGS2: Substance
9. MGS3 (I'm sure Subsistence will take the original's place here)
10. Silent Hill 2

I should have left a place for the new Zelda as I'm sure it will be great.

#1: Silent Hill 2

No order for the rest:
MGS3

MGS2 (I liked all of it. The whole bizarre, sureal, nonsensical thing)

KOF '02 ... it was released during the current gen lifespan, and although old, the console was still alive at the time.

Double Dragon Advance... seriously

Wind Waker

Transformers (the Atari one on PS2. Way better than a licensed game based on a line of toys had any right being)

SF3 on Xbox

And a couple slots left open for the great games that I am no doubt forgetting at the moment.

I had the most fun playing Halo, Halo 2 online, Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, Zelda Wind Waker, The Onimusha series (I enjoyed the 1st and 3rd the most...), Gradius V, R-Type Final, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden and a few I'm sure I'm forgetting. For me the game I enjoyed most of this generation above all others was Castlevania DoS.... the biggest guilty pleasure was Deus Ex: Invisible War for the XBox (I realize it isn't considered a "great" game.... for some reason I just really enjoyed it - not sure if it was the atmosphere or character/enemy design or what.)

1. Rez - because i worship it.
2. Katamari Damacy - innovative
3. Lumines - enticing and addicting
4. Devil May Cry - a great start for this gen. what a blast.
5. Virtua Fighter 4 Evo/FT - a technical fighting masterpiece
6. Ico - very atmospheric, one of the earilest games for this gen which made me O_O
7. Shenmue 1&2 - Sega at one of their finest
8. Ikaruga - finally, an Epic shmup
9. Ninja Gaiden Black - great comback for the classic hero

i've enjoyed a few games, but not as much as games before from the dc or saturn days

i guess my favorite games have been zelda ww, fzero gc, and beachspikers.
don't forget beachspikers.
the real reason i bought a gc.

on the xbox i was gaga over jsrf and gunvalkrye even though that was hard as
hell. and then outrun.

on the ps2 there's been one or two that was okay, but none i really loved.
i'll have to go home to see what games i have for the ps2.
vampire night?
the fatal frame games are koll.

I can't remember half the games I've played, but the ones that stick out in my mind for this generation are Katamari Damacy (best soundtrack in a while), GG#Reload (Master of Servant), and Tales of Crackonia, I mean Symphonia.

This gen was all about Capcom for me, If it were not for them, I'd probably have dropped out of the console scene a while ago.
Resi4 is obviously one of the main highlights, but Killer 7, Vewtiful Joe, the Onimusha games, Resi 0, Resi 1 remake and Shadow of Rome all provided some excellent, and highly polished, gameplay experiences. And there is still Okami to look forward to.

Outside of Capcom, well, Konami get a big thumbs up for the 2 PS2 Contra games, Gradius V and the Silent Hill games (I'm a total sucker for survival-horror), other honorable mentions go to Azure and Midway for the Shadow Hearts games, Sony for ICO, Naughty Dog for the Jak games, Criterion for the first 2 Burnouts (I never liked 3 and 4), Namco for their fighting games - and also for Breakdown which absolutely floored me with its proof-of-concept spin on the FPS genre.

And not forgetting Koei. I spend stupid amounts of time playing the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games, and they also published the Nippon Ichi RPG's in Europe - so props to them for that, oh and they made Gitarro Man. Gitaroo Man rocks!

I'm leaving out some great games (Lumines, Gradius V, SotC) and there are a lot of games I've yet to play that could possibly fit somewhere on that list, but as of right now, those would be my top ten.
