I have sold a few items before on the forum without problem but now when I go to start a new topic I get "Ace, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons: blah blah".

I thought it was because my post count is low but then I saw this http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=132332 post from yesterday which is from a member with only 5 posts and no trader rating. :conf:

Please could someone shed some light on this problem?.

I read the sticky and the bit about "Now, only established members will be able to post new threads in the selling forum." But the link in my above post contradicts that statement. So no I don't get it. :help:

Need to have 100 posts and the posts made in the Market forums didn't count.

Maybe I'm slow but I still don't get it. The guy in the link has made 18 posts so far, 8 in the trade forums, 5 in the war room and 5 in the shooters section. So the trade posts don't count and apparently neither do the war room ones and in fact his post count is 5. OK. Then how did he manage to open a selling thread if he doesn't have 100 posts?

he probably made the post before the "regulations" were in place. the selling threads made before this was put in place were not deleted. hence some members with low post counts have selling threads that they just keep bumping (i.e. lithy).

if you want to start a selling thread ... start making some posts. respond to things on the board. just stay away from the war room. its a -1 on your post count.

good luck ...

That thread was opened yesterday and other people have not been able to do the same since last week or so...

If that were true the 5 war room posts he made should have zeroed the 5 valid posts he made in the shooter section.

Members who don't participate much should just use their sigs, not start threads in other areas. How does your sig get noticed? See the rules but until you reach the 100 post minimum, your items FOR SALE will get some exposure.

Still no reply as to why the "n00b" referred to above could open a thread in the selling forum yesterday.

I was just offering up an idea.
Place the items ior a link in your sig until you reach the minimum.

I don't really agree that new users should use their sig as an advertisement for their sales as it would contradict the rule that they are not supposed to sell stuff, making it pointless. Besides many members like me have viwing sigs disabled anyway.

I'm really curious to see what happened with jpj and wasabi's reaction. By the way, I think his threads in the Warroom were moved there from other forums, I'm not sure if this affects toward their negativity or not.

You know i think the rule is really stupid. I've been here on the forums for about 4 years with a low post count. So what if I don't post a lot I'm being punished for that now. Gee I'm real sorry if my real world comitments prevent me from posting more often.

Okay so I can understand putting a minimum requirement on the Selling forums to 100 posts although I think the suggestion of 1 month 50 posts is better. But why do that to the wanted forums? Thats a forum where your trying to buy things. If you limit the wanted forums, why not just make it so that newbies cant even buy from the selling forums until they have 100 posts? Its pretty much essentially the same thing, except in the wanted forums your asking for a specific thing to buy.

Well as it stands now, the 100 post minimum is required for all market forums. But the reason behind this rule is so people cant just join the forums and sell things right away for fear that it might be a scam. If your trying to buy things, your supposedly still able to do so as I read from the Rules that were posted. But, the "Wanted Forums" are designed for people to buy things too. So I dont see why there has to be a minimum requirement of 100 posts in this forum, if people with under 100 posts can still buy things from the "Selling Forums". The only difference I see from the 2 is that in the "Selling Forums" you buy what you see. In the "Wanted Forums" you ask for what you want to buy.

I personally think that a 3 month probation period would have been sufficient but alas im not a mod so i dont make the rules.

however it is very strange how jpj managed to post a topic in the selling section

Hey, look on the bright side: they also removed our ability to edit our own posts. So if you have something to add to a post, or made a typo, you HAVE to make a new post.

Just the mod's way of helping you get that post count up. :very_ang: :very_ang: :very_ang:
