One of my friends, who's a bit on the mainsteam GOP leaning side of things lost his job as a truck driver a few months back.

He use to always listen to AM-radio...aka...haven of right-wing talk..while driving and had good' ol Faux News at home.

Since loosing his job they had to cut down on bills, so they got rid of cable TV (no more Faux) and with no more driving, no more listening to AM talk radio.

He was saying how his isolation of American news in general has increased his quality of his life. Yeah, it's good to be informed, but 95% of all news is just for shock value.

Shit's fucked up, we know it, there's honestly nothing we can do to stop it though. Watching the news just brings out emotions over issues we can't control.

The problem in this country is how they treat race as the main identifier. It's to the point where people identify with their race first before their nationality. People in America often get race, nationality and ethnicity mixed up which is sad. How many times have you asked somebody "what's your nationality" and they reply with "black/asian/hispanic". Go to a comparable country in say Latin America and regardless of if a person is a certain color they'll answer with what their nationality is if you ask them and won't say their race or hyphenate it with their nationality. You won't hear a Brazilian say "Branco-Brasileiro" They just say "Brasileiro". American's segregated history has even made it to where whites and blacks aren't quite the same culturally despite living in the same areas. To me that's some powerfully racist shit right there.

Racism is all over the world but in America it's quite different. I mean how often have you heard somebody say "that's black stuff" or "that's what white people do". White guys aren't supposed to rap. Black guys aren't supposed to ski. Black people don't hunt. White people have to drive certain cars etc etc.

When you think about it, it's gonna be a long time before shit like this stops happening on the regular. We're no longer separated by law, we've learned to do it on our own without the governments help which is sad as fuck. I'm sure when I'm 90 years old I'm gonna keep hearing stories like this cuz this is America's way.

The fucked up part is these ADULTS will walk out of prison someday. If the roles were reversed a black or latino kid probably wouldn't live to see trial.

The bad part with nationality over race is in this country it only applies after major events like 9/11 and the American Idol finale and that unity only lasts for a few minutes before we realize we all still hate each other.

I've seen countless people on this thread making funny of goofy-ass white people trying to speaking in Japanese (horribly), use Japanese clothing trends and immerse themselves in Japanese pop culture. These nerdy-ass fucks are TRYING to act like certain Japanese people, just like all those pathetic white suburban idiots are trying to act like certain blacks. Either way these people are trying too hard and it’s silly.

To not associate cosplay with the Japanese is as idiotic as not associating the hip-hop culture with black people.

I have a buddy at work who keeps telling me this all the time... some of the shit he has to go through, the cold stares, treatment, etc. that the average black person has to endure on a daily basis would drive a normal person to suicide. Most of us couldn't walk a day in their shoes without going crazy. He tells me stuff that just blows me the fuck away, all the time.

What they need to do in these situations is go straight to hanging or firesquad execution for the teens, then show it live on TV.

As an example of shortsightedness of the media, I did not even seen a mention of this in local news. I love it when someone not black tell me that we don't have it bad. Having material objects and having the right to do certain things =/= freedom. In first grade, this little boy use to call me a nigger and I didn't know what it meant until my parents educated me on the issue. This is why I never go around calling people nigga. It irritates me hearing non blacks using the n word, thinking its a term of endearment. Hell, it REALLY irritates me to hear non-black tell me how they feel when they don't encounter the things Ki_atsushi mentioned!

Two years ago, I was visiting a friend in a nice neighborhood. I got stopped by a police officer for speeding (they had one fucking speed limit sign that couldn't be seen well due to a tree blocking it and it was a five mile road) and he would ask me all of these questions about why I was in that neighborhood, who I was seeing, etc. It was very infuriating and there wasn't much I could do at that point.

It's the American way to put race before everything. In America you don't say that guy over there, you say "that black guy". Race in this country = EVERYTHING. And it's also how people divide themselves up. Race 1st, interests/common views 2nd. Tell me I'm not right.

This country is actually not as progressive as you think. Every important piece of paperwork we have to fill out has race on it even if race doesn't matter. The race section on paperwork is used to identify and weed specific kinds of people out.

And lets be honest, Obama is the first biracial president, He's black in public just for the votes. He does what America's race minded majority want him to do.

Race is important in the sense of identity and heritage, you can't ignore it, but what is important to respect all races and remember that no race is superior to the other. The notion of being "colorblind" is just as bad since it ignores race completely. We have to acknowledge it, because it is a part of the process of coming together.

Stuff like this really brings my piss to a boil. I think its gotten worse since the election of Obama (call me crazy) but I feel like race has all of a sudden taken a front seat to issues where they should not have.

I spent two weeks at my GFs family's house in florida and it really shocked me to the reality we are in.
