Don't have any pics, but I've been listening to
Smashing Pumpkins: Melancholy and the infinite sadness.
Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral
Radiohead: OK Computer

Very solid album, great packaging. The book is scans of the original lyrics, it holds the CD and also a DVD with the videos on it. I wish more albums came like this. I don’t think it was even very expensive.DEA14FB7-1D04-4ACD-BAF2-9CDF51D3EB9C.jpeg

I was referring to albums I bought in the 80's.
Most of those got 'digitally remastered' for cd. In other words, completely fucked.
@BillyJoelZeta: everyone playing vinyl knows records wear out through the years. But with the right needle weight on the record and the right balance, they will last longer than most cd's. They will rot, weather you play them or not.

I don't buy todays music. Mostly old stuff on vinyl, prefer the original pressing, most of the re-launched stuff is pulled from a cd to vinyl.
I have one perfect example. I have 2 prince albums that launched after he died. Both are with live performances. 1 is good, the other is litterally unplayable, thought my simple stereo broke or my needle was gone. It was really really bad. Good thing it's a picture disc. Music on it is a disgrace. Sounded like someone at a liveconcert had taped the thing on a crappy voice recorder running out of batteries.

Is it still cool to buy songs on iTunes?

I remember the old iTunes commercials and they were pretty cool.

I drive to work now and have an hour+ commute each way so I just bought a ton of music on iTunes.

I feel pretty cool.

As I said, I will not be drawn into your bullshit argument, not even now that you are adding outright lies. Go ahead and start another thread for it and we can measure each others dicks there.

When I buy music "digitally" (ie: no CD is available) and there isn't a high res version out there somewhere I always use iTunes.

Why don't you just stream them?

Because streaming as most people define it sucks. I'm not an FM radio lister with a phone, I'm an uptight music nerd with a Sony NW-A45. I need control. I do use iTunes Match though, which basically streams you your own collection. That's pretty handy since I probably have at least 2000 songs on my computer that no pissing service will ever provide.

Until it breaks in two years because it’s a Sony. Is it a pro thing or for consumers?

The massive SONY changers (Mega/Explorer). They are good shit... Though the belts on them do go (I have two Mega 300's need new carousel and door belts). The 400 DVD (and some of the CD) systems can Play SACD. Don't think there is a Blu Ray Mega changer that can do SACD. You can also link up to 3 systems to play 1200 discs.

I prefer the flat transfers of some of those early CD's to the heavily compressed remasters where they cranked everything up to 11.

I once had a Beomaster 6500 receiver and CD player. That thing was a trip and a half.

Get spotify on your phone, is your phone synched with your car? It's super easy.

@ratson that's a picture disc, those are usually garbage for sound quality. Not all of them but most, they're made for collecting not listening.

I have one picture disc that doesn’t sound like a sanding disc, the reissue of Mickey’s Christmas Carol. For some reason the noise is almost normal with minimal distortion on the esses and such.

Why should I lie about something this? 😅
My dri and iron maiden albums were crap on cd back then. Don't call me a liar, you don't know me, fucking simpleton.
Cd rot is a thing, leave them in a map in your car and see what happens, not just burned cds also originals.
Luckily, we all know you're a moron.
Have a nice day.

Saying CDs will deteriorate on a shelf faster than a record that actually gets played, while technically possible in a very specific case, is so improbable that it isn’t improbable it’s just a lie. You said it, it’s not true, that makes you a liar. As for why you would make up some shit like that, I have no idea. Don’t you think it’s pretty fucking weird to lie in such a public place about shit that is so easily disproven and doesn’t impress anyone anyway? It implies you are so used to compulsive lying that you no longer even expect people to believe you.

We all know the story about bad Maiden CDs, I think kids learn it from their uncles now at Thanksgiving. It’s cliche as hell to bring it up, and at this point useless since the entire catalog has been remastered again since then anyway…and you’re still playing that same copy of Number of the Beast every day for 35 years now and it sounds perfect because you know how to set up a tone arm. What an insane and pathetic line of bullshit. :D What a moronic thing to be seen lying about…

CDs do rot, in super small percentages, but not yours. You destroyed yours by leaving them in your car, you fucking retard. Leaving ANY media in a car will destroy it. That’s not what “rot” even is. Rot is when it dies without some idiot melting it or anything, it happens, but it’s so statically rare in US and JP pressings as to be meaningless. Euro fans…not so much, but still a super small number rot. (If you think CDs rot fast in a car, don’t have dogs or children please).

I don’t know what your point in this thread is. You hate CD, we believe you, now what? If you want people to buy more records you’re talking to the wrong guy as my collection of vinyl is already huge and I add to it every few days usually. Records are easily my favorite thing to collect which is why I have started adding to the thread for it. This is simply a thread for another format. Why is that so unthinkable to you?

No I don't hate cd's, I hate bad recordings we had here back in the 80's. Another assumption that technically is a lie on your end

You or your friend, either way the point is only a moron leaves his music in the sun so that's not an example of the fallibility of the format By using it that way you are just as stupid as your friend because nothing is indestructible.

So anyway, this wasn't you?

Gtfo with those crappy cd's.
Vinyl or bust.
I had a lot of metal albums back in the day. Changed to cd and they all sounded wrong. Went back to vinyl last year.

You didn't say that? I didn't just copy and past that from your stupid post? That really sounds like a pretty strong vote against CD. You can't have been talking about Maiden then as it hadn't come up and the only 80s CD anyone posted was Keeper II which was like 88/89 well into the era where at least OK CDs were being made.

Also, your entire record collection is only a year old and you're telling other people how long stuff lasts? Based on what experience? God, you're so fake and full of shit.

You're only in this thread to drop moronic platitudes based on audiophile luddite hearsay and ignorance. Please go start another thread for that.
