Who else foresaw the mediocrity of the Xbox?

To me the Xbox is by far the best of the current generation. Gamecube is nice, and the games that I have for it are awesome, but the good games aren't as frequent as I hoped. Still there is nothing wrong with the system at all. Nintendo's only fault on my part is the fact that they are so afraid of online gaming.
I don't really consider the Ps2 to be in the same league as the GC and Xbox, because both dwarf the console in power and performance. I feel that the Ps2 is part of the last generation. With the Dreamcast being it's peer.
But it really all comes down to what kind of gamer you are. And if youre "hardcore" it comes down to this...

If there is one system youo don't own. Youre missing out. It's that simple. Every system has pros and cons. There is no top dog.

I accept the fact that I'll miss out on all the Sony and MS releases. I don't have time or money to spend on them with all my other interests at the moment.

Mediocre? Bah, it gets more play than my GC I can tell you that. Probably as much if not more than the PS2. CvS2 online is just damn good. Steel Battalion, DOA3, Mech Assault, PDO, its kick ass.

Honestly I spend to much money on gaming to even bother to think about down points. If I diden't have an Xbox I would have bout it for either PDO or CvS2 (just cuz it is online)

I don't know what to say about X-box. I guess I'm not disappointed by it since I never had high hopes to begin with. On one hand it's a technically superior little system with great online support. On the other hand, it's clogged with software that doesn't interest me. This is what it has that I would buy if I owned the system:

HOTD3
splinter cell
panzer dragoon
steel battelion
CvS2

Out of those 5 games, only one really interested me to the point of buying the system, and that is splinter cell. But then I found out it's being ported to PS2, so I'll probably pick it up there. I hate the first person shooter genre with a passion, so stuff like halo doesn't interest me.

I honestly don't see myself ever getting an XB unless I get an incredible deal on one.

Xbox has been my next-gen console of choice for a while now as it has the most exclusive games i want, such as House of the Dead 3, Shenmue II, Dead To Rights, Steel Batallion, Halo, Toejam and Earl 3, Jet Set Radio Future, Sega GT 2k2, Capcom vs SNK 2 LIVE and Panzer Dragoon Orta. I don;t have to buy memory cards, and if a game has crappy music i can use my own. Nothing more to ask for, really.

even panzer dragoon orta isnt great imo

there are a couple of decent games for it but i feel so jaded with the next gen consoels that i dont actually own any right now

all 3 are pretty pish in their own right

thats about it, can see why people mention hotd3 - its a laugh for 30 minutes

50quid for 30 minutes - rather pay a prostitute £15 for maybe 2 minutes (on a good day)

Nope, because unlike you, I don't already own one. I'm not going to drop all the cash on an X-Box and live, and CvS 2 just to take advantage fo the only remotely interesting game on the system.

I really don't care if you play Zelda WW or not. There's so much other good shit coming out at the same time that to try to play them all would mean missing out on something even better than gaming called real life. A sacrifice I'm not willing to make.

I never said I didn't like the X-Box. I will admit that I do not like Microsoft, but that doesn't mean there aren't good games on the system, as I've admitted previously.

Honestly, there just aren't many games on the X-Box or the Gamecube that I enjoy all that much. They both have their fair share of shit and their fair share of gems. It seems the shit far out weighs the gems on both, IMHO.

And I do play on the X-Box, just not too often. Halo, Steel Battlion, Crimson Sea and some others are the games I've played, and enjoyed, on the X-Box. Most of the other games I failed to mention, I played previously on other systems (like the DC), but they are still great games.

I can honestly say that I prefer the PS2, from Sony whom I have more than than the great hatred I feel for Microsoft, more than both the GCN and X-Box. Why? Because even though there is a lot more shit games, there also seems to be a lot more of the gems as well. If you throw enough shit at a wall, eventually something will stick, right?

I play games to have fun. Some people prefer one system to another, but in all honesty, it all comes down to the GAMES; it doesn't matter what system it's on. I think you probably have realized this, but you like to stir up the shit. It is fun to have "lively" dicussions, as long as they are well thought out and not mindless "Sony Sux" "Nintendo Sux" "Microsoft Sux" type posts.

Your posts, while lately have been on the side of the X-Box, are at the very least, usually well thought out. People get to emotional over video games... IT'S ENTERTAINMENT PEOPLE, not politics or religion.

Here is a good laugh for most people... How many games that have been coming out recently, or are due to come out soon, have been on the dreamcast for a while already? LOL

Im my opinion, the DC had the best line up in quality games altogether. Sega shouldnt have called it quits so quickly. Looking at how all 3 systems are doing right now. Sega could have easily beaten out Nintendo and Microsoft's gaming library and kept a number 2 spot. Graphically, the DC easily keeps up with the PS2 and Cube (especially if you hook up your DC to a monitor to double it's resolution....SWEET!!)

Having played all the systems, I can't say I hate any of them. Xbox is ok..they do need to shrink it down a bit and make it look better, and get more FUN exclusive games that take advantage of the hardware. Gamecube needs more games pronto, and Ps2 needs to bring out more NEO games damnit! lol...
