Well the name was distorted like a captcha to deter AI and the Terminator is... an AI soooooooooooooo :D

Ah.

Haven’t seen one of those in ages. It’s always the “pick the picture that shows a crosswalk” or traffic light for me.

District 9
I caught the end of this, on TV, years ago, but, never watched it in its entirety until last night. The prawns' bizarre behavior and the humans inept dealings with them are endlessly entertaining. Excellent CG and special effects. One of the best extraterrestrial films ever made in my opinion, especially since it tackles the subject from such as unusual angle.

Eurotrip - Scotty doesn't know.

Jackass 4.5 - Jackass has always been one of those things that speaks to the lizard brain. Laughing at other people's pain and bros fucking with each other. I always enjoyed them for what they were but I don't know if it's my own age or the age of those crazy old fucks but this shit made me so much more uncomfortable than the old movies. Could also have just been the insane amount of nutshots.

12 years later I finally watched Limitless. I enjoyed it. It wasn't horrible, it wasn't great.

Solid 7 out of 11.

pop some popcorn and set your expectations low as fuck.

Jackass 4 and 4.5 made me gag more than all of the others ones combined.

Yeah, that's why I never rewatch it. It was good for what it was, but it was super ham-fisted.
Blomkamp tended to do that pretty consistently in his movies. Watching Chappie again when I did a few weeks ago came off that way to a lesser extent, but District 9 and Elysium both lay it on thick, and neither of the latter have Die Antwoord to make up for it.

Watched:
The Night House - pretty good, though a bit over-insistent on just being vague as hell on pretty much every single part of the plot from start to finish. Rebecca Hall and Sarah Goldberg were both good, with Hall in particular carrying the whole movie much of the way. She does a pretty believable American accent, which makes sense I guess given how often she plays Americans.

Windfall - eh, not a bad way to spend 85 minutes but not great in any way. Snappy pacing, satisfying ending, good performance from Jason Segel. Weird performance from Jesse Plemons, though I think his character was just badly written more than anything.

Them (2006)
Might as well be the French / Romanian version of The Strangers - A French couple is attacked in their old Romanian mansion and have to figure out how to fight back or hide. Lots of good suspense with minimal gore. It's super quick, so it's worth watching.

Yeah the dude is like a broken record.

Chappie is a hilarious mess but honestly I could watch Yolandi do pretty much anything. I saw them live a few years ago and she did not disappoint. Totally worth putting up with the juggalo-lite level crowd.

I enjoyed Windfall has a kind of Ingrid Goes West on Ambien vibe.

I tend to watch the video for Enter the Ninja at least 5-6 times per week and it's still not overkill, such a great song plus Yolandi taking her shirt off for no reason. She's a legit solid rapper in her own right tbh, seeing them live would assuredly kick ass, gotta admit! Even on second watch she and Ninja both carried their weight in the movie IMO.

I still have not seen that one, because Japan got a heavily edited and rearranged version to turn it into a kids movie for some reason. At least, that's what I read, and that was enough to keep me from watching it.

Actually that makes a lot of sense from a marketing perspective. It's basically Short Circuit for adults. I can see how it could be edited into a more kid friendly cut and the Die Antwoord infused aesthetic would still totally would fit.

Sure, but I'm against the censorship issue and a studio altering a director's work to fit a different purpose on principle. I mean, you could edit about a half hour out of Godfather (not that any of this guy's movies are Godfather), lighten the tone and make it acceptable for a 5 year old audience, but I wouldn't watch it.

Oh yeah I'm definitely not saying they should have done it just that I can see how they would. Shit, it probably made more $ as a kids film.

No Time To Die hit Prime this week. I liked the Bond arc overall. The bad guy arc was weak with a confusing or non existent motive. The movie itself was waaaaaay too long.

Overall, I liked Craig Bond, Casino Royale being a favorite. Yes, they were all pretty serious, dour even, to the point where even the pithy little puns feel forced, but when it worked it was good stuff. When it didn't, I'll take overly silly Moore over overly serious Craig (looking at you QoS).

Quantum of Solace is definitely the weakest. SPECTRE and No Time to Die do a little bit to redeem it and make it feel like it was part of something larger than it was. But on its own, it was pretty disapointing.

I disliked the Craig Bond films overall. Losing all the charm, humor and sexism made me wonder if I was actually watching a Bond film having grown up with Connery.

You can count the number of good Bond films on one hand, let's be real.
The number of Bond films that are legitimately good movies can be counted on one hand. I won't disagree with that.

But the number of Bond films that are good Bond movies is significantly higher. Hopefully you, as someone balls deep in all the Marvel garbage, can understand this kind of distinction.

Oh yeah, and I finally saw The Revenant, years late.

Really good, except....... that cartoon bear was ridiculous and undermined the tone and what was going on. I feel like I've seen more believable bear attacks in movies going back decades. Using real bears with quick cuts and reverse angles, prosthetics, whatever. I even feel like I've seen more believably animated CGI bears in movies. This was really unfortunate. Luckily, it happened early in the movie and there was time to get the cartooniness of it out of my head and reinvest in the story. But holy shit.

Please confirm that Tom Hardy gave the best performance, not Leo.
