Anyone still remembers now defunct Diehard Gamefan Club?

I bought my Mega Drive console & Neo AES Gold from them in 1991.

I went to CA in the early 90's and been to their store in Van Nuys. I bought Magician Lord AES then.

Of course I also bought around 20 games from them until 1995 before they shutdown their branch store in Plano, Texas.

Was that the same as GameCave? GameCave used to advertise all the time in Gamefan to where I thought that the two were affiliated. They had really high prices though, so I never bought anything from them.

I don't think Diehard Gamefan is Gamecave.

I still have old catalog/booklet from Diehard gamefan in hand .......

Man...I used to dream to purchase all the Mega Drive/PC Engine games from them one day....

I think GameCave got swallowed by <a href="http://www.express.com" target="_blank">www.express.com</a> while Diehard Gamefan Club became <a href="http://www.gexpress.com" target="_blank">www.gexpress.com</a>

Can anyone confirm this?

Also, what happened to that store called Tommo?

But I thought they get into videogame publishing

I ordered KOF 97 for PS from Tommo a long time ago. They are still around but I think they only deal with distributors now.

TOMO!?! Those BASTARDS!!!!!!!! I ordered new copies of English Real Bout Fatal Fury and Real Bout Fatall Fury Special for GOOD PRICES!! Gave the F%767ER My Credit Card # and swore I grabbed the deal of the century..I mean the price for the two carts was like $300 if that..
I call back after a couple of days because my games had'nt arrived and the MOFO told me he could'nt verify "my card" That SON OF BITCH had the 800# I gave him and could have verified all day! What a LIAR! I hate TOMO!!!!!!!!
Also..what about the lil' annoying kid that used to read off the new releases while they put you on hold..hehee...@ DIE HARD?? I purchased an ADK for like $179 when it fiest came out from there..was very pleased..

Express.com is still around- they are now DVDExpress.com. They still sell games, but they hype theirselves more as a movie DVD vendor now. You see some movie DVD stuff at the top, and you have to scroll down a little to see the featured games. Their game selection seems to be mostly domestic stuff now, although I've noticed a few older imports listed in stock.

Die-hard Gameclub was a sort of chain store out here in the midwest too. The one I went to was in Arlington Heights, IL. But, sadly sometime last year they closed down for good. Was a decent place to buy imports too...

GameCave on the other hand...when I got my Neo Geo AES package, the NAM 1975 cart came with a GameCave price sticker...$179.99

This thread brings back so many memories. I remember looking through all of the video game mags at Barnes & Noble looking for the Tommo and others adds in the back. They were so cool!

Ah, the Plano store...The first time I ever saw the Saturn and Playstation were there! Astal floored me, and I thought Kileak was awesome too. I would drive thirty miles to go there avery week or so. They got ALOT of my money to Liquid. You're not alone!

I saw PS Gunner's Heaven at Plano store
I didn't get it coz they asked $89 for that sucker.
7 years later, I bought mint Gunner's Heaven for $25 shipped

Ah those great Diehard Gamefan Mags.
I always thought they were the best mag,cause they had Neo coverage just about every month,and the artwork and graphics were great.
I have them all I think (there are some months that it didn't come out).
I even have an issue 00. Its a small booklet with Wonderdog on the cover,that the store put out before the magazine was launched

I loved their magazine, but I thought they tried a little too hard to be "hardcore". Anything mainstream got blasted and received poor scores it seemed. Just because it was mainstream. That alienated me cause I just wanted to play a good game, not worry about the "status" of it. Still, the old EGM was my favorite with Diehard following in close second.
