I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm sure you're right for most people. But the reason I'm not talking about it with anyone is I expect them to cancel it. They cancel everything now, halfway through, with nothing tied up. And even when they do 'finish' something you can tell it was forced on them, with piles of storylines left stupidly undeveloped.

I'm super jaded with american tv right now, which is really shit because we've been spoilt for choice for a decade and more.

And then you watch a show you thought could have been great get binned off and they greenlight another 42 series of the wanking dead.

Never mind I'll go to the cinema oh wait it's still batman fucks the flying honey badger part 14.

That's why you have to try and stick to limited series stuff and not get invested in these big epic drawn out series. Half the time they end up canceled and the other half just shit themselves to death.

I know people want to get caught up in the hype and excitement of big new show but at this point you really can't act surprised when they pull the rug out or the show disappears up it's own ass.

Steven's right about the whole cancel something good before it even gets a chance and then green lighting a dozen other turds. That actually makes me mad. People need to stop hate watching stuff, that's one of the main reasons so much garbage gets green lit. All the companies and executives care about is high engagement regardless of wether or not it's negative. Stop engaging.

I said it before but it would be cool if a documentary came out in 20 years about how GOT was a pop culture juggernaut in the 2010s and the last season failed so miserably that it killed any enthusiasm for the IP literally overnight.

Like a few million people finished the last episode and collectively thought, “I will never think or care about this again.”

Yeah that already happened with LOST, except after it was over nobody cared enough to make a documentary.

I don't see them cancelling House of the Dragon. It's expected to go four seasons. At 8-10 episodes apiece, it's highly doubtful they'll kill it halfway through.

If this were network TV, it would definitely be shitcanned. I don;'t think House of the Dragon is 'bad'. It's just that we don't trust it to deliver on its promises. And so far it hasn't.

HBO cancels plenty of stuff. Expensive productions are way more vulnerable to cancellation. But I'm not feeling a cancellation vibe here.

Black Sails and Spartacus were great, and part of that is because they didn't overstay their welcomes. But they also didn't stay away so long that the buzz was killed. House of the Dragon taking two years between seasons is perilous footing for the show's hype.
