Definitely for that sub population that wants the retro look and feel of GBC.
It's no different than people who play OG gameboy on that blurry mess of a screen. There's no amount of mods that will convince me to play on an original GB screen.

Basically aimed at the pokemon crowd. It's even calling the preorders 1st editions. I'd be lying to say im not interested. But not at it's asking price. $250 for the handheld, tetris, and it's matching headphones. It looks like they're also publishing their own game cartridges.

I don't know why, but the line 'heirloom quality' left me a little triggered. I hate the pretentious BS inherent in that statement. That and the magnesium alloy shell had my eyes rolling so hard, that they almost popped out of my head.

An attempt to match the original screen's pixel count and size is the only part of this thing that interests me.

Looks fine for what it is. Personally I don't care enough about Game Boy to buy another device. I just modded an old Super Game Boy to have the correct clock speed using qwertymodo's board (which was cheap and really easy), and that's plenty for me.

The Wave color is pretty sexy, but if I were to buy a portable to travel with, which is really my only use case where the Steam Deck or Switch wouldn't work, I'd want something digital so if I lost it the games don't go with it.
